Wednesday, August 30, 2006 This has been looooong overdue... infact, supposed to post it last year... but life in uni has been so busy, i basically abandoned this blog.... Hope to bring it to life again!! Went out with a friend to Orchard.. sort of like a day to relax.. Guess where we went? One of my fav restuarants of all time: Bakerzin!! Went to the branch at Paragon... it was such a heavenly treat!!! Have always been such a big fan of Bakerzin!! But this time, there's pics!! =) ![]() 2 mango italian sodas please!! *backdrop is self-provided from some brouchre Supposed to mix so that the syrup at the bottom blends with the soda at the top.. but for ppl like me who are fussy, i like to leave it juz as it is.. then extend the straw to the layer between both sides, then adjust to the perfect sweetness as i suck.... for me: more syrup at the begining, less at the end to clean the pallette. =p ![]() ![]() my choice: SMOKED SALMON LINGUINI (from website: Smoked salmon in diced tomatoes and linguini cooked in white wine cream sauce. $11.50) I've yet to try at realli good smoked salmon pasta.. but this is good considering the rest! the capsicum is fresh addition to balance the saltiness of the salmon.. the cream sauce (oooh, i love cream sauces!!) is marvellously thick enuf to coat the pasta when you swirl it around the fork. but not too thick that it overwhelms. Alittle disappointed by the lack of control over the taste of the salmon, cos it was realli salty. Mixed with the thick sauce, it got difficult to finish at the end, thou it started realli good.. ![]() ![]() friend's choice: CLAM PASTA (Spicy) (from website: Clams and linguini braised in clam juice with white wine, herbs and fresh chilli. $14.50) Flavourful, not as spicy as the warning, but gives the dish a lovely kick! The sauce is wonderful!! A good hearty meal, as promised by bakerzin!! ![]() ![]() SAUT�ED ESCARGOT WITH ASPARAGUS (from website: Saut�ed escargot in white wine cream sauce served with asparagus and toasted brioche bread. $12.50) Absolute heaven!! the best dish to start on escargots!! ~it's not my first, but it's realli realli good.. you can't stop at one... The toasted bread is a must!! It's sweet... sweet toasted bread... luxuriously delicious!! ![]() ![]() Banana Pizza with Cinnamon Ice Cream!! This is the best!! amongst the menu for tapas... The banana pizza is crisp, in contrast with the smooth creamy icecream!! Super addictive! we almost licked the plate.. haha.. ![]() ![]() the 4 tapaz!! ![]() Kirsch Jelly with Strawberry Vanilla Creme Brulee Hot Chocolate Shooter with Vanilla Ice Cream (i forgot what they called it..) But it's coffee with creme brulee below.. served with a stick of crisp biscuit! ![]() Warm chocolate... hmmmmm.... I didn't like it that the icecream was melted.. maybe they prepared it alittle to early before they served it? but i'm fussy, i guess... ice cream in chocolate is the perfect aphrodisiac! gets anyone into the mood.... heh. =p Oh yar, the mint leaf at the top is a must!! (too bad for guys, heard mint ain't good for performance... =p) Refreshing burst of mint that beats any of that peppermint chocs you can get anywhere... hehe. ![]() ![]() Coffee!! The coffee layer at the top is espresso, i think. not sure.. but it sure is strong!! do mix.. Love the stick of biscuit!! cos it sweet, a welcome blend to the bitter coffee.. But the presentation is so classy, ain't it? there's a little gold leaf at the middle there, on the layer of coffee... do you see? ![]() ![]() Frozen strawberry? Not realli a fan of strawberry- had my fair share of the sour.. but this is delightfully good... The kirsh jelly is melt in your mouth kinda light, and the strawberries, esp the submerged one, juz reminds you of strawberries in summer....... ![]() ![]() vanilla goodness!! see the little dots of vanilla!! they're in a smooth, light custard.. and the caramel crust at the top juz tops off it off! ~ my only complain is that could the custard be alittle firmer? but it's good thou... ![]() ![]() Chicken Consomme Encroute (from website: Clear Chicken broth with shark's fin and scallop, covered with golden puff pastry $7.50) Served!! a bulbsome crust covers the bowl... when broken, it releases a subtle breath of fragrant steam... oh well, you have to do alittle work to get to the treasures inside no? =p ![]() |
