Huge selection of food at Suntec. here's my 2 recent visits there. Crystal Jade xiao long bao and la mien, and marche.

Crystal Jade:
service: the waitresses are typical china ppl, who gif you the impression that if you ain't nice to them, you'll end up with spit in your food. thankgod for the transparency which they practice, the kitchen is visible from the dining area. The service overall is pretty good, other than that fear i had cos my grandmother shouted at them (for not being standing around talking when she was hungry...) oh well, but other than that, they were willing to service even after being shouted at. and was rather pleasant, i should say. The same waitress which my grandmother shouted at served our table all thru the visit. i was very impressed with her courage. thou her delivery style could haf been improved.

Food:
the soup, though highly recommended by the aforementioned waitress, was laden with msg. the noodles (lamien) were light and smooth. It was a generous portion, enuff to satisfy guys who haf a big appetite. Their wantons, however, were just pure joy. Ok, the stuffing was ordinary - pork and veg, but the skins were the results of mastery. they slide into your mouth and yield easily to reveal the fillings. you juz can't stop poping them in. =p
Their fried fish was also good. crispy outsides (flour) and hot inside. Goes well with the sweet chili sauce they provided.
Their xiao long bao were ok. worth a try. (ok, tt's bcos i've tasted better. =p)

Drinks: their homebrewed waterchestnut drink is alil' better than the ones you can get elsewhere. The cold one doesn't come with ice. Which is a blessing. i can't imagine diluting it.

Overall, a good place to eat. but not if ýou're in for sth to indluge.

Marche:
service: ermz, ain't that much service to talk about rite? but... the person who welcomed us was friendly. the person who cleared the table did it pretty fast. (well, the place was pretty empty anywayz) the person who dished my rosti was a tad impatient (i dun like being rushed when i'm making decisions of what to eat). The person who made my crepe was realli cute!
However, no one was stationed at the billing counter. and there are no signs telling us that we can't bill at the entreance, which is empty and has a machine there too.

Food: i don't understand wad makes Marche so highly acclaimed. Rosti is nice. juz nice. but nothing special. Even after i paid extra to add the mushroom cream sauce on it. The cream sauce needs a good dash of fresh pepper. the mushrooms had good flavour, so pepper would have enhanced it. i didn't finish the plate.
stringray (their lunch special) was spicy, but lost out to many hawker stalls in terms of taste. the stingray was pretty fresh though.
Desert, i had my all-time favourite, banana caramel crepe with ice-cream! icecream flavour, maple walnut. (against my fav flavour, mango..) it's still pretty good! *whew*

i wish they will stop that "buying water"nosense. the prices they charge is definitely above the prices in the food court, and they're definitely making profits for the food we buy. i can't imagine potatoes, mushroom and cream costing $12+, even if you add in the cost for hiring the cook it, the gas needed to provide the fire to cook it, and hiring the guy to stand there to serve it (which will be abt 5 mins). it's ridiculous to go to an upmarket eatery, and the owners of the restuarant seem so petty that they can't even afford to gif their customers plain water. And many of the food they serve there is heavy and rich in flavour, so water which will cleanse the taste buds, will not only help improve the taste of the food, but also increase the appetite of their patrons, contary to filling their patron's stomaches. seriously! you get so sick of the flavours that you refuse to eat sometimes.

So, as expected, i didn't buy drinks. i'd rather go carefour and get a yourget drink to aid digestion after all that heavy stuff.
