Sunday, September 10, 2006  9th Sept 2006 - IBG Hall 15 for basketball It rained!!! We shifted from the outdoor courts to the indoor court.. not easy to carry everything- trolley, water tumbler and firstaid stuff all the way up afew stories to the indoor court kaz... but very lucky to have afew kind souls like the one above, Alvin (the current Asports rec), and *one more person, i forgot his name le... shall call him XX here! *- he came along for dinner too! who helped kian hong, stanny and me carry the stuff!! Anywayz, the bball games this year was spectacular! it was juz nice watching the flow of the game.. i brought my astro notes to study for the test the next day, but i barely touched my notes! Due to the rain, the games dragged into 10pm.. hungry cos everyone no eat dinner yet.. tt's why yongting got that face, captured by camera man- kian hong. lolz. Anywayz, the few of us upon checking out the miserable fare in hall 13 decided to head down the "197 coffee shop" instead.. but while we were trying to get a taxi, it started to pour again!! luckily emily and her bf came back in a taxi, and her bf asked the taxi driver to come back after dropping him.. and he did! and the uncle v nice, took all 5 of us! =) it was realli funny cos the taxi uncle went with us to 197 for his own dinner too! but he didn't sit with us lah.. haha.. Chenni, kian hong and me had ba chor mee; the XX had fried rice, yong ting the best! - he had won ton mee, then one more plate of fried rice! and he finished everything before me lah... haha... then i bought tutu to eat as a reward for them helping me for IBG! and it was so good they bought some to ta-bao back to hall! =) it was juz nice! hot meals and good company to warm the body on a cold rainy night.. Took a Mercs Cab back to hall! the uncle also quite nice lah.. we kena rejected 2 times cos they dun wanna take 5 ppl.. this uncle at first didn't want one.. but then sliently indicated, by not answering to the final "please?" haha.. less than 5 mins ride to NTU leh... v ex to get one more taxi... =p   179 coffeeshop's ba chor mee! no te gua leh... =p but it's still not bad lah.. i think standard drop alittle bit.. but nothing's realli better than a hot steaming bowl of ba chor mee, warm milo, conversation and laughter at the table on a rainy cold night!  tutu!!! me fav when i was young... peanut or coconut? both are nice.. but the thing i didn't like was that they were pre-made.. i used to like to stand there and see them make the little cakes.. and wonder how come the flour will stick together... this stall has a newspaper article there saying it's the fastest maker of tutu! it's not bad lah.. the peanut filling's not sweet, so good for older ppl.. haven't tried the coconut thou.. but heard it's quite good.. =)  Mercs Cab for the way back to hall!! haha.. it's purposely blur so cannot see the license plate.. the uncle v nice!! haha, he was quiet thruout the journey cos illegal to fetch 5 ppl in a cab... but later he got join in our ridiculous conversations.. haha!!  Great company!! - chenni, yongting, a new friend- , and kian hong! Thursday, September 07, 2006  Pork Satay Sambal Chilli Stingray Sushi Teh @ Holland V Heh, another Holland V place... well, it's the nearest food haven from NTU, i guess... This trip happened some time last year.. one of the old trips which i never got to recording down... Anwayz, the above is my hamster. Her name's Pork Satay Sambal Chilli Stingray. She came along to Sushi Teh with me in the above manner.. (in my handphone pouch! We did let her run around the table abit, and the children were delighted to see her peep out her pouch.. lolz, luckily the peeps in the restuarant didn't mind.. If not, i won't even take her out from her pouch in the first place lah...) lolz. The pouch's her 2nd home.. normally i'll stick a tissue in, and she'll shred it and make it comfy.. Sadly she's not with us now.. died when she was giving birth to her 2nd litter. I miz her.. .. but it's okie le. Anywayz, this blog is about food.. heh. I was meeting up with a senior of mine, kj, for dinner. Decided to come all the way to Holland V cos i was sick of sch food... haha. Jap is one of my fav crusines!! so we tried Sushi Teh!!  Scallops!! don't they look yummy? they taste realli realli good too.. It's a heavy flavour, but you'll be in for 2nd helpings.. cheese and scallop, was my first, and i fell in love with it! This is actually my fav dish of the meal =)  live lobsters in the tank!!! We were seated at the sushi bar, right infront of the lobster tank! it was interesting, thou lobsters ain't reali active creatures.. haha.. and it's alittle uneasy for ppl who don't wanna be reminded of having to kill to eat... but other than that, it's juz unique ba...  cooked lobster... the meat was realli fresh!! but it's juz mayo, lobster and jap rice.. haha.. nth much lah.. but hte lobster is realli realli fresh... hmmm...  live lobster watching us eat their "tong bao"!! lolz.. quite bad rite.. but reali.. we didn't get to choose where to sit lah.. and it's realli cheap! less than $20 for one lobster leh!! how could we resist.... But yar, i admit lah.. it was quite bad.. cos we meant it as an experiment to see if they realli kill the lobsters there or isit they juz put there for deco purposes... And in the end, we realli saw that the chef came out of the kitchen to the tank, caught a lobster, and went back in!! then after abt 5 mins.. our dish was served. Well, order already muz eat.. so.. yupz. sorriz.  The wrapper.. hot hot sandwhich in a paper bag!! Went for a jog with my hall friends: xueqi and elsa! very long didn't jog le... haha.. After the jog, a refreshing shower, and to fill the tummy, a sandwhich!! Decided on a hot sandwhich, cos it was a rather cool night.. so xueqi and i headed all the way to the canteen, where the sandwhich machine was located.. the sandwhich machine was brought in upon welfare's (which i'm a part of) suggestion to hall office. i'm glad they did eventually bring in the machine.. thou i had orginally hoped they would locate it somewhere in the midst of hall 15, rather than to have to walk so far juz to get a hot sandwhich.. but now, i know the walk's worth it! haha..  the tuna has bits of juicy corn in it!! thou there were tomato in the picture on the machine, found none here leh.. haha.. but it was still realli delicious!! the sweetness of the corn and the tuna were such a compliment.. and the crunchy, warm toast.. who doesn't like bread like that?  hot sandwhich and cold plain water!! ~ heh, i'm easily satisfied!! =)  My friend, xueqi!! after a nice jog and shower, time to fill the tummy!! yummy yummy!! Monday, September 04, 2006  beancurd wrap!! I n my friend yanling had some water/first aid duty for my hall's IBG. The venue was NTU's hall 2's court.. it rained that afternoon... and in the midst of the rain, i was lucky enuf to have candice who drives!! She drove me back to hall to pick up the stuff (cos i was alone, yanling's lessons ended at 6 on the dot..), drove me up SRC to fill up ice, then down to hall 2. It sucks having to carry all those stuff alone in the rain, lookin for where's the court... well, it sucks cos i caught a cold... haha... Anywayz, during the games, we sneaked off for juz alittle while to the canteen! i hadn't had lunch.. and it was past 830pm... and there was a stall selling dim sum.. Steaming in their little bamboo cage, it was juz irressible... we shared some har gao, siew mai and beancurd wrap (can't get the wordings rite for the pronounciation).. Hot dim sum on a rainy, cold day.. As we juggled the little dumplings about in the plastic bags, biting into the fresh bouncy prawns that almost burst flavour... it juz brings you such joy. Joy that noone can take away from you. A friend at your side, warming you outside; and food to fill your tummy, warming you inside.  Pork dumpling!! ~siew mai!!  prawn dumpling!! har gao!!  Gelare & NYDC @ holland V!! A classmate of mine, Candice and i convinently decided that we were better off doing self-study rather than goin for some tutorial.. and we were right!! hahaha!!! Sorriz no pic of NYDC. But we were the ONLY 2 customers there!! haha.. at first lah.. then got more ppl come in... i'm in love with the baked rice there, thou i know it's mayo, mayo and cheese, cheese... but it juz fills you with warmth. And it was terrific, we "got permission" to study and filled the table with books... Dinner time approached.. and it was gettin late.. so we decided to go across the street (Holland V is so convinent!!) to Gelare!! Since it's TUESDAY!! haha.. everyone knows tuesday is half-price waffles day!! And again, it was pretty quiet.. ideal to study... so we took out our books - as you can see in the pic!! It was juz marvellous, the icecream and the best waffles in town drizzled with maple syrup!! The only downer was that the taxis we took to and fro from NTU there... the first taxi driver cheat us!! he drove round and round... don't recall holland v being so far... the second taxi driver didn't cheat us.. but he thought NUS was NTU.. so funny!! he drove us all the way to NUS.. we stunned.. then sianz... haha!! |
