Saturday, March 31, 2007 After lessons... Headache. BAd bad headache.. and luckily, candice waited to fetch me back.. if not, i would have juz laid at one of the benches and konked out. But, today, candice was late.. bcos she had morphed into this unregconizabe shape....  Juz kidding. it's a picture i took while waiting for her to come pick me up! =) and she was onli a few minutes late... The snail's quite pretty right? Sometimes we miz the beauty of things juz near our feet... Anywayz, we were both hungry!! as usual... and this time, i introed Candice to my FAV Hokkien Mee stall!! i ONLY eat from them! If you think your's good, taste this one, and Hokkien mee will never be the same again!! Cos i used to dislike Hokkien Mee (i'm a char kway teow person) but ever since i tried this stall.... Warning: this is craving-potential type.. =p It's near my house, along East Coast Road.. the stall name has Geylang in it. Dunno why it's named Geylang along East Coast Road.. but who cares what it's named as long as it tastes like this???!?! lolz.. We shared one plate, cos both of us going home for dinner...  This is one bo-liao pic we took to distract ourselves from our growling tummies as we waited for the Hokkien Mee to come... the only pic we took together today!!  Thank you Candice for always being there to rid my headaches!! =) After the hokkien noodles, we were alittle filled. So instead, we went to the nearest petrol kiosk to get icecream! and our one serving of icecream became.. one TUB of icecream!! haha.. After buying our tubs of icecream, we ate it with plastic spoons in candice's car!! juz Blast the Aircon, turn on the music beats and dive into icecream!! hahaha! it was realli funni, cos the car was juz parked outside the kiosk mart.. and almost everyone who went in took a look at us.. eating icecream infront of the mart in a car!! =S so funniz! cos it was so impromtu and casual! =) Haagen-Dazs Coffee Flavour!!  Candice's favourite!! *hint hint! now all you guys know what to get her! =) It's rich!! lovely, smooth, intense yet creamy rich!! haha!! i don't realli like coffee-flavoured icecream, prefer icecream in coffee..... but this is nice! realli realli, damnit nice!! =)  Candice in her front driver seat!! advertising for Haagen-Dazs!!   Haagen-Dazs Macadamia Brittle!!   Mine to take home... Firstly, it's rich too!! very very sinful!! haha.. but it's haagen-daz lah.. whad you expect, sobert? lolz. Anywayz, i didn't like the little pockets of honey.. cos the icecream was already sweet.. but as they're realli little, they're okie.. i love the crunchy honey brittles in the midst of the macadamia goodness! and haagen daiz is ADDICTIVE!! oh, we juz cldn't stop eating!! Bet we stayed there for like half-hour at least lorz.. eating our tubs of icecreams. i finished like the top 2 cm of my tub!! while candice took a digging approach!! hers is nearly 1/4 gone vertically.. lolz. So crazy in a way..  ~@~@~@~ TCC Study Session 3 ~@~@~@~  This is Summer Passion!! but sorriz, no passion from me.. the supposedly passion fruit tastes ALOT like the cough syrup we use to down when we were children.. you know, the red color one in the transparent bottle? yar.. that flavour.. But it's a nice picture lah.. beautiful white snowly ice with a tiny (and sour!!) blue berry topped with a spring of little decadent mint leaves! =)  This is mocha villa! Both candice and i decided on the same drink this time!! copycat! =p haha.. The one on the left is candice's- she mixed it up.. yuky rite??? the one on the right is mine!! hahaha!! Althou it has layers like my previous drink, this one's nice!! mixed up or not! we both finished our drinks!! =)  Mocha villa is topped with vanilla icecream!! i like!! =) Food @ TCC!!! Main Courses! delicious!!! =)  Smoked salmon linguine~! i liked this dish!! Cos they didn't cook the smoked salmon as most do!! What took someone sooo long to get it? and best of all, candice doesn't like smoked salmon, so i got most of them! =) hehehe!! the pasta was well-done thou. slices of paramasan cheese added texture.. but i personally prefer them shreded so that they would melt into the sauce... oh well, they did slice it real thin, so it's not a mouthful of cheese.. i'm juz picky. =p it's a very nice pasta dish if you like smoked salmon like me! =)  This, is baked macaroni!! served with garlic toast slices!! And this is heavenly as the menu claims!! i love the cheese crust which has been browned beautifully, and when pierced, the hot steamy, creamy macaroni delivers perfection!! *see below pic for ingrediants inside- mushrooms and ham* the garlic toasts slices are a hot fav!! Toasted till crunchy and yet, immersed with rich flavour, this is true garlic toast!! i love this dish!!  Beware thou!! we shared our lunches for variety.. but we were sooo full of pasta, we became sooo slpy while studying. no more main courses for us when we go there to study le!! think stick to lighter stuff ba.. but if you're there for a nice lunch, it's realli good comfort food which satisfies. Friday, March 30, 2007 More pics!  Candice always busy cutting, spliting food up! cos i suck at math, and she's good at division! =) so normally, she divides the food up and i take the chance to snap pics!! =p  Yay!! see, we studying hard.. table's full of books kaz... Saturday, March 24, 2007 BLUE LOBSTER They were having one main course free for one main course.. so my dad and extended family went to eat. Hope to bring my bro and mom (who's in london now..) to eat there sometime too! Although i loved the food, i realli didn't like the wait. We waited 2 HOURS for our food to come!! Evidently they need more chiefs in the kitchen!! XYan (my cuz) and me went to check out the kitchen in our boredom and found only one chef attending to both pasta and meat stations!! poor guy.. but the food tasted great! the waiters were not bad too. lolz, one guy was not bad looking.. and the other is a smooth-talker who reminded me of Mark. haha. Ambience was pretty good. Soft lighting, and i loved that they had a section where you had sofa seats with screens. A little privacy helps.. thou the effect was spoilt the moment there are couples seated nearby.. think they added those to cater to more customers at a time.. abit diaoz. but it's still okie lah. They have a private function room, but apparently not enuf to sit all of us, so 4 of us were kicked out to seat ourselves at one of those sofa seats.. One thing i didn't like: the couple who sat near us came AFTER us, but were served and left loooong before our main courses came!!! so unfair.. but they seemed to be on familiar terms with the staff. UNFAIR. i could also be a regular wad... Price-wise, this place is ex on my scale!! deserts are all above $10, main courses range from $28 upwards. A good place for celebrations thou.. but today we weren't celebrating anything lah.. we were juz there for the discount... =p We all ate full-meals.. gosh. Luckily dad was paying... i would have to stay back and wash dishes...  Soup of the Day: Mushroom Soup! Loved the mushroom soup- thick and creamy.. with a delicious, crunchy stick of garlic bread to dip!! i'm a fan of mushroom soup, and this is realli one of my top favs!!  Crabcake! Served on a uber-long glass plate- but only got one!! the four of us shared one... =( It was juicy, and you could realli taste the crab in it! the mango salad below was also very appetizing! but that one crabcake costs $12!! uuurgh. portion needs to upgrade rite? and also... after that, when we were abt to leave, we saw a picture of this dish outside, and there was SUPPOSED to be a topping of fruit on top!! what happened to ours?!?!? haiz.. Main courses from Blue Lobster  US Duck stuffed with scallop and lychee sauce Very unique dish! i stole some from my dad!! and it was succulent, and i loved the stuffed scallops!! i didn't imagine that this combi was possible!! And it's healthy too! look at the bed of veg! =)  Rack of Lamb My cuz's (XXian's) i tasted alittle bit, and it was nice! lamb is difficult to master, and it's quite well done here =) I like the presentation very much!! so pretty!!  Steak I dun eat beef, but my cuz (XYu) totally cleaned her plate!! Guess that's a thumb's up! hehe! MY MAIN COURSE!!!  Lobster Pasta!! Hehehehe~! i specially asked for permission to eat the ex ones!! lolz, actually dad dun allow cos say my gastric and tummy not good recently, should eat fish.. but my aunts sorta persuaded him and he changed his mind.. and i bet he's glad he did!! cos i gave him a portion, and he loved it!! thou he muz grumble abit (cos pricy mah) that not enuf cheese.. hahaha.. There isn't enough lobster. Althou they give you half of the lobster shell, they stuffed it with creamy vegetables supposedly mixed with the meat from the tail i guess... i'd rather have thick slices of lobster tail.. The creamy veg was a plus plus plus! i love creamy dishes and this wasn't overly done and heavy- mixed with the pesto pasta, it was heaven!! Absolutely LOVED the pesto pasta!!! Delicious!! i bet i'l be craving for it again!!! haha..  Lobsters in a tank, we explored the place while waitin for the food to come... =p Deserts Galore!! -Blue Lobster
 Grandma Apple Pie with Vanilla icecream! I tell you a secret... i love this vanilla icecream MORE than Bakerzin's!! thou i do miz that Bakerzin's has the little dots of vanilla in it! but this is much more rich than Bakerzin's. Or maybe bcos it has been quite sometime since i ate at Bakerzin, and my memory has faded. =( But anywayz, the pie itself is not bad. i like the whole, thin slices of apple at the bottom, and that there's plenty of cinnamon. But at that price, you sorta expect that sorta standard.. or better. =p sorriz. not up to expectation.  1/4 of a cheesecake and lime sorbet! XYan and me koped this from the adult's table!! hahaha!! tt's why there's only 1/4 left.. =p and i'm realli glad we did. Other than the Peach, this is another fav. The cheesecake has little balls of choco biscuits in it! they burst with chocolatey-goodness suddenly in your mouth!! and the sugar decor (dunno what it's call =p), it has mint flavour in it! do try alittle of it with the cheesecake cos it compliments it too!! the little tangerines/ oranges slices at the side juz makes this a healthy dish! hahaha. takes the guilt away...  My cuzs!! XXian and XYan!! Aren't they pretty? KINARA NORTH INDIAN CUISINE the day before was Woon Teng's bday!! Candice wanted to treat her as part of her bday present! me juz extra go along and eat onli... =p kidding... Happy 21st Woon Teng!! yay! you're OLDER than me... haha. Anywayz, here's to happiness and bliss in wadeva you may wish to take on! =) They decided to eat at Kinara, at holland villiage, then i joined them after class. haha, candice LOST her way, so in the end, i was JIT when they were about to order.. hahaha!! I liked the sofa seats we sat at, and the colorful cushions and lamps! the waiters, however, were lacking in sth called -being polite. We had a hard time gettin their attention to order and to fill up our water.. they only filled up our water once. One of my cuz once said- the tell of a good resturant is how often they fill your water...- wise words!!! It's pricey, thou the food was enjoyable, but i didn't realli like the attitude of the staff. Here's our picks for lunch that day:  Kabab- which turned out to be tandori chicken. We were abit confused, so we asked the waiter if it was the kabab. " i told her wad!!" pointing to candice, realli defensive huh. Ask to clarify cannot arh. well, we juz couldn't understand your english-ridden hindi well wad. ;)  Plain nuns- these were terrific! Soft and warm, with herbs scattered all over. Lovely on their own, perfect to complement the chicken curry *below* Good choice candice!  Spinach with Cubes of Goat's Cheese  Chicken Curry i forgot what it is called. Seriously, i dun understand the menu, if not for the little descriptions underneath. Hey comeon. most of the customers there ain't Indian, so it'll be realli considerate to spend abit more to 1. print in a larger font, 2. print the english descriptions clearer and in a bigger font, or give your dishes english names. If they taste good, it doesn't matter what they're called as long as i understand what i'm orderin okie.......... But pesky menu picks aside, the chicken curry was delicous!! with the nun, it was heavenly!! Creamy smooth with tandori chicken chunks inside, it was nice! But $16 for the little cupful, it was extremely pricey! North Indian cuisine is expensive!! can get a potful of curry at Little India for the same price lah..  Woon Teng, Me and Candice! Happy b'lated bday Woon Teng!! =) MARK's SEVEN IN A CAR~! Later that evening, candice and i went to support Mark and part of his band who played at a little bar at Katong! Mark can realli SING!! gosh.. and his friend played the guitar so well.. lolz, they're both realli good!!  Mark and his friend performing!  @ the bar to support Mark- *ahem* Indecent candice and Decent me! =) HONG KONG CAFE We left the bar with hungry tummies to fill!! but it was after midnight.. most of the places were closed le.. but there's always Hong Kong Cafe!! Open till 4am! =) and i'm so happy we did!! it was the best way to end the day!! i felt so satisfied and happy!! and glad to see candice enjoyed herself too!! can't believe she finished one desert and sandwhich too!! lolz!! so that means the food is realli good!! =p  Almond cream with peanut tangyuan!! My choice for desert! cos i wanted sth hot to fill my empty tummy! (didn't eat dinner cos we ate the indian food quite late..) and this is soo hmmmm.... =) great to have on a cool night.. juz warms you up from within!! Comfort food indeed!!  Mango Showhand!! Candice's choice for desert! I tasted abit! and it was delicious too!! Mango-licious! haha! yumyum!!  We then made the mistake of ordering a egg and ham toast sandwhich EACH!! the mistake was that we couldn't finish our portions! so we ta-bao.. should have ordered one and shared. haha.. but this sandwhich is nice!!! love the thick egg in-between!! the ham's alittle oily- more like luncheon meat lah.. But together, it's realli nice!! =) Oh yar, skip the salad at the side- it's limp, warm and yuky. But the sandwhich is sooo yummy!!! TCC CRAZY!!!! Lolz, i think my new hangout is TCC!! =) Matt introed me to the outlet at the Nanyang Acedemy when we met up juz b4 he left for TW.. and that time, candice introed me to the outlet at Marina, and now, i'm HOOKED to try out everything they have!!! hahahha! my new love- TCC! Day with Matt:  Our 2 drinks together: left is matt's: Blanc Soy Latte- a shot of espresso with lots of milk and with white chocolate!; mine's Peach me up!! i luv my drink!!!! We also tried the chicken sandwhich with asian pesto.. that was abit too spicy for our tastes thou there were mushrooms inside it that realli worked it!!  Plenty of cornflakes ontop of matt's drink! He said his was realli realli good!! Shall try it when i feel like taking a hot drink!  Peach Me Up!! it's realli realli REALI good! the light peachy taste is floaty, yet solid in the sense that it's definitely there! Soothing yet refreshing, the rashberry and mint leaf was a nice nice touch!! Love this drink! |
