*#*#* Another Week passed..... *#*#*

One more week has passed.

And i'm worned out.

But v v thankful to those that aided me, supported me and gave me good times to lift me up.. especially XM, thankyou so much for always encouraging and cheering me up whenever i needed a listening ear. It means so much to me.. and it really gets me thru the day.

first row is from my day with mom when i went to see a doc.. i miss being able to go shopping with mom....

2nd was last sunday when i met up with xiu mei, yanyi and sirong to watch Dark Knight - a v v good movie, but alittle depressing.. and i'm v sad heath ledger killed himself.. his performance was perfection and so.. beautiful?
-After the outing, met my family for dinner at Wan Hao Cantonese Resturant where i had one of the most extravagant meals in my life!! (they ordered b4 i arrived, so when the bill came i was truly shocked!) the 2nd row last pic is their desert - dragon fruit with lemongrass jelly and red wine ice. i can eat dozens of that and get happily drunk hahaha.

Last row is Mac donald's breakfast! dad insisted i eat breakfast, so we packed and i brought it to the office to eat.. but that morning i was so busy, left the burger till evening..And the last pic was taken today (Sunday) when i went out with matt and micheal to celebrate matt's bday - salmon @ fish & co ~ v delicious!

I've been working till around 2am, mon - fri.. work full-day on sats too...
2 weeks le.. and alot of spots on my face.

ate breakfast with bro and dad b4 work at the 24hr roti prata! it's oily and fatty.

i aim to have more breakfasts with bro and dad!! EVEN if it means less slp. bcos it's super worth it! ~seldom see them these days... i didn't see my bro for the whole of my first week at work!!! - i come home, he slp le.. i leave the house, he's still slping. Dad stays up to fetch me home for the first few days, heng got managers appear and they stay east-side too, then safer for me to take taxi.. There was one day when dad fetched me to work, i was so tired.. when i alighted, i said "Good night!" (as opposed to "good day!")... and dad actually replied "Good night!" too!! wahahahaha! he's tired too cos he stays up to fetch me.. sometimes it's only 2 hours of slp.. Nonono.. cannot let dad fetch le. Grown up le leh...

Must say my first job is quite.. interesting. V long hours.. and at times, very frustrating.. i hate feeling lost; and i hate inefficiency. Everyone's super busy with their own work, and i paiseh to ask and bug them... but i'm very lucky that i have nice and helpful seniors! =) Never have they made me feel stupid, thou i think some of my qns are quite... stupid. hahaha. Lack of slp really makes me dumb and blur. tsk...

But food-wise... hahahaha..

We order in for dinner- pizza (the French brand one...); zi cha (got quite afew times.. and quite nice too!); and there's ASTON!! @ NUS canteen which i loooove their crispy fried fish!, Sakae sushi (healthy and nice!).. then there's the sugar rolls which mom recommended from Polar! -- for those who don't know, these are the BEST in the world!! =) really soft.. and nice..

the last pic is @ lunch which one of my managers- Yanying, treated the whole team to.. it's some ex place lorz! not hawker center.. and those are lovely juicy fried mushrooms!! they remind me of those at Stuart Anderson's Black Angus *gosh, yum*

but, the main point of that pic is the chic branded wallet beside it hor..

1. Went back to school to collect convo stuff with XM, Yanyi and SiRong- ate beloved xue hua bing @ can2 again!! haha happy!

2. self-made ice katang with almonds, walnuts, sweet corn and brown syrup~ pretty huh? =p

3. Dad bought durians!!! v v happy! ate till sore throat. but still crazy abt them.. Recce loves durians too! i eat 6.5 per night, he eats 0.5. *bleah* hahahaha

4. Went out with matt for dinner on fri night- ate at ichiban!! tt's one of the best tempura curry ever!! and their chawamushi is the BEST.

He's 4 years old le~ how time flies!!

Took the bus so that i could drop by US Doggy Bakery to get him his usual slice of bday cake!
Clever boy knew that those boxes of stuff was for him- he was super excited when i came home- tail wagging wildly.. haha

Apart from the cake, bought him the cookies and a shep's pie which he absolute loves!

^%^%^ EY Training in Penang ^%^%^

Start Work le!!
EY sent us all to Penang =)

Luckily to have great company~ Xiu Mei, Yanyi, Su Min, Choon Fong, Si Rong & Cindy! Penang didn't have much for us to play around, and training was boring.. but we survived on making our own fun ~ Movies & Kbox, Eat! Eat! Eat!... lolz

Food in Penang's CHEAP! haha We were fed like pigs too - there's breakfast (hotel buffet!) then morning tea break, then lunch, then evening tea break! after which immediately is dinner!! My group never ceased eating cos we ate to keep awake in training, BUT despite that, dinner was always a feast! I'm really happy bcos we ate Kim Gary's!! and cos we found BUBBLE TEA!! hahaha

Maybe 'cos haven't been used to listening to lectures, keep falling aslp during training!! our group was the ONLY group to bring in snacks to munch on.. Sour Plums, Sweets of all sorts, chocolates, etc. and i'm so happy that we juz thick-skinnedly continued with it, bcos it was really sooo hard to keep awake. During lunch, we would rush thru eating so that we could slip in 15 mins of nap in our rooms (training was thankfully, in the same hotel). But one day, we decided to take pics instead ~Yanyi and Sirong bought digicams, so we set timers and zi pai!! haha

It started out rather decently...

Then..

Still left 1 more week of training.
Then we leave to join our respective teams...

Let's meet at least once a fortnight to gossip and shop! =)

went out with my bro today and it was really fun!!
i'll miss him dearly when he goes to london to study...

What's disturbing now is the realization that i'm away from home so much this hol... it's almost.. too much. Taiwan, then now Italy & Bangkok for June, then soon after that will be Penang for work. My heart is heavy.. as if all i wanna do is to stay at home with Recce and watch tv, eat breakfast/lunch with my bro, walk Recce with Mom and eat dinner when Dad comes home... time is ticking away, counting seconds lost. there will not be a time like this anymore when i can have great long holidays... There will not be a chance for me to relive these moments.. simple things which fill me with great joy..... when bro goes overseas, when i start work- when our lives change. and i'm really sad, to b honest.. sad instead of excited. bcos i don't want things to change.. juz feel tt alot of things around me r happening beyond my reach, n making me lose alot of things tt matter to me.. and i know tt instead of feeling this way i should b treasuring them as in the present and now.. but the thought tt it's ending so soon.. juz... sad. =(

Supposed to go US... then bcos no available dates suitable, we signed up for Jiu Chai Gou.
Then kena Earthquake!! - Just a week b4 departure!!
*hope that situation there will improve soon!!*

So emergency diversion- Taiwan! =)

It's my 2nd trip with only mom! the previous was b4 i started uni, so it's quite quient to end uni with another.
it's great travelling with mom! cos she does most of the nagging and worrying abt stuff and all i do is have fun irritating her =p
We went for a round-taiwan tour (whole island), so it was alot of travelling.. (which i hate cos looong bus rides give me motion sickness).. and the typhoon rains kept ruining moods as the night markets won't open... but comming back and looking at the photos, i really enjoyed myself v v much! i love mummy!! =)

Last row: FuChou FishBalls!!! have meat in them! - the same stall sells drunken chicken which is more Q then ours, but i'd prefer meater chicken.. hahaha.. and the last pic features *gasp* pork lard rice!! i finished the whole bowl!! the old uncle from my tour group finished 3 bowls!!!! really really yumm!! =)

They have these characs called Damper Kids!! hahahaha.. ref to the big damper ball located at the top of the building to to counter-balance and sway it back to eqm when there are strong winds/earthquakes bcos it's so tall.. .. but who cares, they're cool to take photos with =) 3rd row: views from above, which seriously ain't anything great lah.. but for the damper kids- super worth it! hahaha.. also go to the 91st floor where they allow you to step outside: it was soooo windy! DON'T WEAR DRESSES!! reveal all!! hahahahha

Last row pics: first 2: with our Tour Guide Yao- she's really experienced and respected among the tour guides in taiwan, everywhere we go ppl know her, even guides of other groups will greet her. i love her explanations when we visited the museum abt the jade bai chai.. and she speaks PERFECT chinese- i couldn't understand fm958 djs when i came back!

so we went back Xi Men Ding (last pic) which was near our hotel to shop and eat ah Chong Mian Xian & drink bubble tea again!! =)

More Food...

first row is dedicated to the dearly-missed 烤地瓜！mum really loved the stuff!!
it's juz roasted sweet potato - both the orange and the purple type! it's SUPER sweet!! look at the intensed color! it's almost like candy! but fragrant! lolz, it's mum's indulgence..

We went to afew night markets- in tai chung (2nd row); shilin (3rd row- 1st 2 pics: smelly toufu and the famous chic chop!!- super big and yummy we went back for second helping!) and Kao Shung's Feng Jia (3rd row- back 2 pics- roasted seasoned corn! - get to choose which corn you wan and wad flavour: original, pepper, curry, etc really chewwy and nice!; - charcoal grilled chic chop!) Feng Jia mkt also has the BEST bubble tea! the brand's 大拇哥(Thumb Boy)! Super super must try!! *gal serving also very chio! haha*

Last row is of bamboo rice: muz knock the bamboo till it breaks to get to the rice. good if angry at ppl..
last 2 is of dried salted sotong! - juz like hebi- but sotong..

i was infatuated with this little piglet- caged in a pet shop at the Tai Chung night market. it's super super cute, place ur finger and it'll come and try put it's pink snout to it and try to lick it! hahaha.. v clever! and will wag it's little tail as it chases your finger around... i pray that it'll end up as a beloved pet by some vegetarian owner... pls pls pls. such sweet innocence..

the same pet shop also sold ducklings.. i hope they dun become someone's meal.. ... the taiwanese realli love to eat duck- esp if it's stewed..

Also another prob in Taiwan is the number of stray dogs- esp those that were once pets. Many are abandoned to roam the streets in search of food, and it's really heart-wrentching to see some sit in front of the night market stalls sniffing at the food above.. these are domesticated animals which don't know how to hunt nor scavenge, used to having their dinner dished out to them, sit obediantly to obtain treats.. ... worse are those tt seemed broken by abandonment- it really struck me when i saw this thin one who was following his master happily, which was vast constrast to the forlorned ones.. dogs value companionship more than anything else.. if you don't wanna look after a pet, don't even get one in the first place! - i hope Taiwan will one day extend that kind awareness and compassion tt i see in their mrt posters to their animals too.

*#*#* Tennis & Shopping! *#*#*

The past 2 days i went kallang to play tennis with Candice; and hung out with Emily!

Okie, technically..
It wasn't really tennis- we spent most of the time picking up balls =p and we played in 15 mins intervals cos we were tired out!
It wasn't really shopping too - we didn't buy anything!! hahaha..

After tennis, we spotted the sprinklers were on across the field, so we climbed our way across drains and over steep slopes to "shower" away the heat! Then, candice and i went to kallang leisure to satisfy my craving for Subway! i love Subway =) guilt-free pleasure!!

After which, we walked around, and decided to pose after the cartoon characs around this inflatable playground for kids! which was damn funny, but luckily not many people were around to see.. hahaha.. The security guard then told us that pics weren't allowed.. but we were done, and was more interested by the lure of Starbucks!! - to wash away the heat too!

Met Emily the following day.. lolz, we took damn long to decide the place to meet bcos we juz couldn't make up our minds! But luckily, Emily recommended this place near Bugis Junction which has DELICIOUS duck rice!! the rice is sooo soft! As usual yours faithful has problem making up her mind wad to eat- so while i tried duck rice, emily ordered kway chap! - so i can try both! which were both v v nicely and satisfyingly soothed down with ice cold lemon tea!

Next, after walking around to try to shop, Emily brought me to AhChew Deserts! (along the same street as the duck rice) And we both enjoyed their yummy mango sago with pamelo! ~abit sweet, but good, nonetheless! but.. they dun serve water, so we ended up buying mineral water from them.... =( Next time i shall buy water from nearby 7-11 first!! hahahaha I really enjoyed the day!! ~we talked about alot alot of stuff! and i realized (with horror) that the tendency to melancholy is coming back... but Emily was really nice, sharing her experience and views.. and i felt really inspired. On my way home, i felt so much lighter (lolz, pity not physically). Thank you gal, it was wonderful, and yes yes! we muz please do this hanging out thingy again!! =)

The last pic was my yummy dinner which is one of the dishes which i've been craving for too! ~ vegetarian crusine! esp the curry veg!! Bro bought it for me on his way home from work! althou it wasn't with the xi mee fen which i love, it was with healthy brown rice! After the delicious lunch with emily, this was juz another perfect meal to end the day off! hahaha.. yay!

Will be away in taiwan for the whole of next week. More yummy food and shopping! =)

^%^%^ A really good day =) ^%^%^

It was a day filled with good things.

Morning, was awaken to go to the banks with dad. Busy morning.. But best of all is that we had lunch together! =) haven't had lunch with him for a loong time le.. and it was a really yummy lunch too!! Parkway's basement food court (cos he was rushing to work) - yummy char kway teow and ice cold cheng teng!! i wanna lunch exactly the same again!!! i miz lunching with dad...

Then went to help my cuz do some accounting- which i realize i've cleanly forgotten alot of stuff! grrr.. hope her exam went well. lolz.

And met up with matt for dinner!

in order to minimize costs (considering how much i've been spending these days), we decided to meet later, and to go Island Creamery first (to bypass ERP on the ECP) and to only head down Anchorpoint after 6pm (so as to pay per entry rates instead of the $2/hour before 6) heh! save $$$! ~ Island Creamery didn't have any of my fav flavours! - no apple crumble nor pineapple tart.. so i settled for teh terik and nutella.. eh i didn't really like teh terik- thou it's candice's fav.. =p found it too strong..

Anchorpoint has a disney-themed restuarant! matt saw it in an email and thought that i would like it! which i do =) Everything is disney charac themed.. from the chairs to the place to wash hands.. and i absolutely love the ceiling- the big lights and the star lights near the 4 stuff toys sitting near the movie screen... the pizza above is mickey mouse shaped! we ordered the minnie special (minnie orders minnie mouse!) and it was much nicer than it looks! matt then proceeded to crave and create an evil bunny outta it.. (look closely, it even has eyes..) hahaaha.. we were abit disppointed that it was more like a fast-food joint.. but still, a really nice place to bring kids to.

Anchorpoint has changed since i last went there. New shops, new look. They even had Subway!! which i was sooo tempted to eat at EVEN after the pizza at the Disney place! hahahahaha.. Had a fantastic time- i bought clothes and books! - eat,pray,love and The Monk who sold his Ferrarri. it's been sooo long since i last bought books.. the last time i guess wld be buying textbooks for this sem. Matt bought a book too- a book written by some guy who wanted but failed to become a priest; ended up in business and died in 1950. I think the title was "Secrets of the Universe". Such a "oooooh" title tt matt couldn't resist lolz.

After all the shopping, we were really tired, and decided to take pictures around the area- they were having some opening the next day, so there were really pretty flower-arrangments around! the pics v zi-lian, so not gonna post here =p but it was such fun. What was really special was the talk we had on the way home... pity we couldn't finish the conversation bcos it was late.

1. Self-cooked spagetti with chicken, cabage and Prego tomato sauce + toasted sausage! yumz
2. bubble-tea!! ~ always happy!
3. Mom found this lovely roast shop that sells really good and cheap roasted duck/pork/chicken/charsiew!
it's at ubi, quite near the driving center.. =) dunno exact add thou i know the way there.. haha

Exams ended for me on the 30th April 2008.

End of one chp, onwards to another - whether i like it or not.

My last paper was evolutionary psy- which is the BEST module i've taken in NTU.. althou it wasn't easy, it taught me lots. i don't regret psy minor, even thou it pulls down my grades... Cos what i learnt is humility, imperfection and beauty... The prof was quite kind- the paper was easy to complete within the 2.5 hrs.. i wrote my answers at a super leisure pace.. most of my coursemates left early.. i took my time and decided to stay thru the whole exam, looking around at the exam hall- the lights, the view, and others nearby scribbling away (taking other subjects).. Emily stayed back to accompany me althou she finished her paper real early (i know cos i was seated directly behind her so can see she was like, drinking water, etc.. and she told me later too! =)) thanks gal. thanks for always cheering me up and being there. i'll miss you lots.

I've been watching tv serials.. Addicted actually, watching till morning light.

i didn't know my neighbourhood was so breathtaking.
Too bad it's gonna change soon.
Most of the houses along the street have been bought over for development.
I hope when i start work mom and i will still find time to walk Recce and discuss the changes.

Went with mom to send my car from servicing early in the morning.. and dropped by Geylang's Yong He's Tou Jiang Da Wang to try them out!

I've always been a fan of the Dou Jiang Da Wang which is located near the famous Beef Kway Teow.. thou i don't eat beef.. =p Heard this joint from candice and decided to try it out with mom!!

The auntie there very nice, she offered us the menu, gave us space, and suggested things to go for breakfast! polite too! when we ordered tau hui, she asked if we would like peanuts with it, then added "no need extra charge!" lolz.. so, duh!, we had ours with a small clutter of soft peanuts.

Soy bean curd and milk for both of us! shared a oily you tiao to soak up and crunch on! oooh.. love love. haha!

Another item i tried was their glutinous rice wraped around peanuts and you tiao - quite nice, but abit bland.. yet to try other items- another time ba! ~ another round of yummy tau hui and you tiao!! =)

JJ came all the way down from bukit timah to study with us!! ^^ hee so happy!!
First paper to the Last Exams in NTU!!

We brought her to eat at the Pasta Bar at Parkway!! ~ treated ourselves to their set lunch with our fav Carbonara!! =) in the end, we ate a 2hour long lunch.. hahaha. But we camped at Starbucks to study a whole afternoon till night kaz! ~ heh, self-justification.

I miss their old Carbonara.. this one was alittle wet and too much cream... Maybe bcos we asked them to hold serving the mains till we finished our soup starters.. (Mayb the chef was being considerate cos pasta tends to absorb excess liquid..) and the soup was too tomanto ketchap - which v surprisingly was to candice's taste (she doesn't like raw tomatoes.. so wrong rite?) Why the standard drop? i dunno. But it's a nice place to eat, chat and chill.

For dinner, another fav of ours- cali maki from Sakura Jap Fish Market in the basement! =) goes well with Starbucks green tea frap!

Candice and Hl is finishing their exams tmr! Jiayou! and Good Luck for those papers!

I finish next week.. so can slack and blog.. hahahha =p

Fetched mom and bro to the MRT early in the morning cos i had to wake up early to study for exams..
After dropping them, i decided to treat myself with a hearty breakfast! =)

Went to Marine Parade Wet Market.. or isit Marine Terrace? (it's not the Parkway side lah..)
Been there since young cos mom used to get groceries supplies there.. nowadays, she travels all the way down to Chinatown (currently the temporary one) to buy fish for my fussy grandmother- which also has TERRIFIC food stalls!!.. so.. basically, i know which stalls are good- and this stall- is GOOD =) The Xin Xian (Fresh) Pork Porridge Stall! (Actual name of the stall okie? i didn't make that up..)

They've upped their prices again!! ~ $3.50 for pork porridge with century egg- but it's still worth it! look at the amount of liao there!! and the liver slices there are thick and cooked juz right!! unlike the dried miserable strands that mee pok stalls give.. Their porridge is smooth and thick, really really full of flavour and very filling! And it's always sold out by 11a.m., sometimes even before...

Another good old stall is the tau hui (soy bean stall) manned by this old couple! the old uncle and auntie cannot get along well one, always bickering! v funny!! but their tau hui is the BEST! Smooth and quality tau hui is good for your skin too! haha. Mom says that she heard her collegues come all the way from the North to try their stall.. and that there was this time when they closed shop and threw away all the stock because the auntie felt that the new stock weren't good quality enough.. (uncle was complaining to my mom that auntie was wasteful) hahaha. So, yupz, i will definitely buy from them whenever i go there. Cos they're a cute couple and they make good tau hui =)

It was a lousy friday lah... scolded and got scolded by someone, then was studying in sch after my elective to wait for bro to end work and have dinner together.. but later bro called to cancel cos he did sth wrong at work thus wasn't in the mood to go out..

But Dajie was free, in school, and accompanied me for dinner =) and he was brillant to suggest Botak Jones - Near Clementi MRT station ~ cos i've been wanting to eat Botak Jones!! - every day hear the advertisement jiggle on radio- lolz. and it's quite reminisent of internship days.. being the only "cafe" food source in Tuas area...

Tried the sausage bun! not bad.. would prefer if they toasted the bun leh.. thou now it's really soft.. but the butter is so flavourful- too rich for the bland bread. LOADS of onion!! hahaha.. candice hates onion, so gal, don't order it k? we ended up playing with onion strips cos there was simply.. too much. haha.

Packed a portion of their famous fish & chips!! supposed to be for bro, but in the end, he had dinner with his collegue, so i claimed it for lunch the next day!! (bro woke up late, and when he realized, it was mostly gone.. =p) hahahaha i love their tartar sauce which comes with the fish & chips!! and i love that they bothered to package a portion of coleslaw too!! cos i like coleslaw! The fish does taste different from the usual you get at hawker centers..

Think Botak Jone's really good for a casual dinner out. Not too ex that you feel you've over spent.. but there are sacrifices in terms of standards of flavour and etc. It's not only about the food, i guess. Dajie was good company, and the service is outstanding, althou much of it isn't local. But still, outstanding =) And i love that they provide malt vinegar... such a lovely, thoughtful touch.

#$#$# BAK GU TEK!! & TAO NAN FOOD! #$#$#

206 project group came for a slpover at my place!
this was before exams.. was aiming to finish up the report in one night.. but lolz... oh well, we tried. And now, it's OVER =)

Brought them to eat bak gu tek!! my favourite stall which dad brought me! It's near Joo Chait CC =)

Bak gu tek on a rainy day.. such warmth! hahaha.. also, we ordered seaseme chicken (1st pic) to go with their famous claypot ba gu tek (2nd pic) and their thai fried beancurd (3rd pic)! Ooh.. thinkin of it makes me wanna go eat there again! hahahaha

We worked really hard okie! think non-stop for the whole evening and all the way till morning... fighting the ZZ monster!! Mom even cooked yummy chicken drumbsticks and bought us bubble tea!! Thanks mummy!! =) in the end, we didn't complete the report, and we all ended up sleeping on the sofa and floor... hahaha.. i'm so proud of my 206 group - adaptive enough to slp anywhere!!

Next morning, for breakfast, we sneaked into candice's and my pri sch- Tao Nan School!! together with Vanessa (who isn't from the sch)

We have been planning to do it, and we finally did it! ~ eat pri sch food again!! Some vendors are still the same!! and the food are prepared and taste EXACTLY the SAME!! my fav won ton noodles is still there! and candice's fav chicken rice! I didn't really like pri sch days, but i know i definitely loved the food! hahaha =)

Really really fun outing!!! wish we could have more of these okie?

The day started out cheeky lah.. BOTH (cos normally is juz me..) Candice and i woke up late for 311 meeting.. then JJ woke up late too, and JiaLin (another grp mate) requested we meet 1 hour later then original time.. so.. hahaha. Oh well. Poor JiaXing (yet another grp mate) was already in school.. But we bought breakfast in earnest apology =) (JJ fruit tarts!!) Then loong day-206 lessons and horrible project (thankful for good project mates); and psy make-up tutorial (which i remembered wrong timing- met xiumei and yanyi when i was leaving the classroom.. =p) sigh.

What a day.

Then... Hl came to meet us and we went out for dinner!! =)

First stop: Hall 3 Canteen!! hl had to pack stuff, then suddenly talked abt food- tabao Candice's fav: jiang cong zhu gan (spring onion & pig's liver); and my fav Salad chicken!

2nd stop: Bukit Timah Food Center!!
Have not been there for v long le!!! Used to go there with dad after school last time.. i miz those little eating escapes (cos we will not eat dinner after that.. =p) And my fav stall is still there!! -- Satay Bee Hoon!! the BEST! hahaha We ordered a $5 portion to share.. so so so yumz!!oooooh.

JJ recommended this zi cha stall!- stingray portion below is sooo generous and only $10!!!!!! Okie, to summarize the food we ordered:

Salad Chicken, Sambal Sotong (the gravy's like chilli crab!!), Sambal stingray and Satay Bee Hoon!!
Aarrghz, so heaty and shiok!! =)

3rd stop: Candice brought us to Mimolette at Singapore Saddle Club for desert! we were soo full, so we ordered 2 to share..
They were soo sooo good. Aboslutely beautiful place (forgives the scary drive in) with heavenly deserts to go with it. Picture below promises boundless joygasm, no?

Last stop: back to Sch!! hahaha. hl downloaded Saw4!! - my god, please don't watch this movie. or any Saw movies if you haven't.. Couldn't sleep properly after it!! =S

(French with Japanese Twist!)

They're reasonably priced, and not too expensive for lunch. But the taste is gourmet standards.. simply amazingly good =)

Located juz next to Island Creamery, great for lunch/ after lunch hours. So it's convinent to stop by after school, juz as Candice and i did!
Above is set lunch, salmon terriyaki!! Comes with salad, freeflow green tea, soup, salmon sashimi, main dish and desert of the day.

Salad isn't juz all greens.. got lovely canned peaches which goes delightfully well with the citrus dressing!
Sashimi is to die for!!! thickly sliced, melt in the mouth standards!!! both of us saved a piece for the end of the meal (save best for last!!)

Main dish was salmon terriyaki- one of the best i've tasted! Perfectly cooked and topped with a little unusual garnish of fried onion (last pic above, the brown strips). Thinkin of it makes me hungry now!! hahhaha
Oh yar, loved that the rice came with a little sprinkle of seasoning too!!

Desert was sourplum jelly in Sprike (i think).. it was a very nice way to clear the platte after such a satisfying meal. Crudos!

Here's what we found at Glutton's Bay =)

For those ulu ppl like me who don't know Glutton's Bay- it's a little street near the esplanarde hidden between the outdoor stage and the usual cafes. Frankly, if matt didn't lead me there, i won't have found it. But to be fair, he's working nearby.. so.. it's only natural that he knows the way rite...

Anywayz, Glutton's Bay is set up by Seeto- the Sg Guru. So all the stalls there are supposedly very zai and nice one. But realli, their prices are abit steep.. and there were only afew stalls so variety was limited.. the day we went was raining too- so it was very difficult to go the stalls (cos there's no shelter from the sheltered seating area and the stalls).. i gave up sheltering.. abit of rain won't give me a tummy ache rite? =p

Onward to food! Tried some novelty food- kaya fondue!! with banana tempura! (above) and it was realli realli good!! i didn't expect banana to go with kaya and it's such a sinful combination!! and below is "toad in a hole" --egg and pork floss with bread! the aunty cut a hole in the bread and the egg (the toad) is in the hole =) yumz

Matt had a sore throat.. but after much temptation (i kept saying jj told me tt stingray v nice =p), he relented and we ordered sting ray!! =) i'm addicted to stringray nowadays. With the nice nice nasi-lemak rice, it was terrific! =) oh yar, matt heard the left-side stall is better than the right-side stall..

After dinner, free entertainment at esplanarde!! there was free rock performance by local band tien, and then at the indoor area, najip ali was playing around with some of the foreign artists and it was damn funny and enjoyable!! v v fun way to end the night!!

Ofcos, the cat couldn't come to watch the najip ali show... =p

it has been such a week.

UPS case is over!! *jumps for joy!*
Althou we presented a rather different take from the class- we firmly believed in UPS' future and gave them a good forecast.. Report seems to have gone well with the tutor, esp thanks to Candice's and Vanessa's presentation... Yay!!
Just as we were heading home to catch up on sleep, we stopped by parkway to eat lunch.

Guess who we saw?

We were rather happy to see the UPS guy actually.. untill he took our lot.

Damn. Seem to get bullied alot nowadays.. The driver who came out of the lot was damn funny. He started to drive out, then quickly reversed all the way back in when the UPS came to snatch the lot from us... then he looked at me (cos i was on the side where the lot was) and gave me a "so how?"- raised both hands like a waiter holding 2 trays on each side.. i told him nevermind. cos we were on the wrong direction (again) of the 1 way street. And almost immediately, there was another lot for us!! (in which candice found $2 on the floor!!) hahahahhaha *bleeeh*

So much for giving UPS a good report. grrrrr.

We went Fish&Co for lunch! (below 2 pics in the collage)
ate so full i almost juz slpt there...

JJ has been buying us breakfast!! Delifrance custard buns and all kinds of yummy stuff!! above 2 pics are pretty little fruit tarts which look almost too good to be eaten! and tapicocca kueh (dunno wad's tt called lah..) so soft and deli~..

Last day of sch before mid-term break.. I had Psy Quiz... =(

Didn't manage to cover all the topics.. so woke up early to go to sch to study before the quiz.. but in the end, damn freaking sway.
** juz a rant, skip to below pic for food!! =) **

Waited 45mins to get a carpark lot!! looking back, yar maybe i should have juz gone to the pay-carpark.. but it's like, you know, sunk cost is still cost lah.. bu fu wad... but wad realli pissed me off was this couple- i waited 30 mins, got this guy who was walking around talking on his phone.. so i was like, okie, juz wait lorz. Finally, he went to his car.. then another car - a black car no. plateSGF 3920 K with a Black Knights sticker ( i don't think it's the RSAF Black Knights thou.. dun think pilots are such rude people rite.. =p besides, it was a student la.. too young to be an accomplished pilot hahahaha)- appeared to compete for that lot!

So duh, i staked my claim lah!! Reversed back alittle.. then the "Black Knight Car with no. plate SGF 3920 K" turned on his signal light. So i turned my on too- hey, dun cheat lorz.

What's really interesting is the sheer determination of the "Black Knight Car with no. plate SGF 3920 K" to take the lot- since the lot was near a turning, the "Black Knight Car with no. plate SGF 3920 K" had to stop halfway turning in.. the guy was still talking on his hp and taking a long time to leave.. thus, there were like 2 cars lined behind the "Black Knight Car with no. plate SGF 3920 K" who were stuck bcos their black knight butt was blocking the way and other cars can't cross.. one car even sounded the horn, but that car wouldn't budge! (cos if he moved forward, someone else like him could steal the lot from him juz like what he's doing.. cos dir of rd was pointing my way so the car leaving will turn out this way..).. .. how's that for determination!!

Anywayz, he got the lot- bcos of the direction of the leaving car.. Quite angry lah.. so i got out of my car and approached them..

"Hey, don't you think what you did is not fair?"

"no wad, what's not fair?"

"i've been waiting 30 mins for this lot le, i've been here since 10 (actually, 950 to be exact), i think it's really not fair."

"No wad, this is based on distance waaad, who EVER said it was based on time waited?"

Ain't it basic tt if you see someone waiting for a lot le, you let them have the lot? it's not as if i was like waiting way way way far leh.. and i did stake my claim.. but yar, it's true that noone ever stated such rules..

" i don't think it's right, i have a quiz ... " - to which she interrupted by snapping:
"we have a quiz also."

she think i was lying abt my quiz? i got pissed and got sacastic "yar right".
"no.. really!!" -her reply.

I wished i believed them cos being pissed is not the emotion i wanna feel before my quiz, so i juz said:
"Ok, but i juz want to say that i think that it's not fair, and what you did is not right."

"oh, okiiiie lor"

wad a bi*ch.
The driver (the guy) juz sat there sliently.
wad a coward.

thinking back, i approached them too nicely le.. regret bcos i really felt so angry after that.. and knowing that if it was my brother in tt situation, he would have insisted that they get out of the lot... and that i should have been more fierce and really gave it to them, cos it was really unfair. Or maybe i could have reversed till i block the person's lot! so you won't get the lot and wait for the cars to pile up behind you to sound their horns, or i could have sounded my horn with more force: hey, let's get everyone's attn!! (including those having classes- and tt will be so so so inconsiderate!!) =S

But Mom said that i've done the right thing by juz letting them know- cos there was an incident previously in the papers where someone wrote in abt this, and the authorities said tt "it's a public carpark" so there's no "your" or "my" lot.. in my opinion, tt's juz saying "i don't wanna get myself involved in this if not there will be hundreds of such cases for me to attend to". So government-ly.

Anyway, main point: if you see a black car with no. plate SGF 3920 K with a black sticker on the windscreen with the words "Black Knights" in red font, please remember it's abt DISTANCE, not abt waiting time.

Ok lah.. things got better after that.. A campus security guard came to talk to me (cos he was juz passing my car by) and we gossiped! i told him abt what juz happened to me, and he said "don't be pissed, you got quiz later... don't let them affect your quiz.." so sweet =) he also told me abt why they muz fine ppl in sch- cos someone complained to Civil Defense and NTU got a warning tt if they catch any car parked illegally in the S4 carpark at the Fire Engine lot, then NTU will be fined $10,000!! i felt much better knowing there are kind ppl around..

Went for my quiz and told emily, xiu mei and yanyi (friens who are also doing psy-minor) abt the incident. Very funny cos emily also had a bad day- apparently she spilled her tea on YuXin's shoes..

After the quiz, they indulged in my request to go down Can2 for lunch!! =)

they have snow ice in can 2!!!

New stall, next to the waffle stand!! Candice and i went down can 2 insearch of snacks on thurs and found this stall!! And it's really quite cheap too! $1.50 for flavoured ice (not the plain ice) and a syrup topping!! i like their syrups bcos they have bits of fruit in it!! and the ice is really sooo soft!! $2.50 for certain concotions which i've only tried the mango (stole from emily) and it was mango-milk-licious!!

the only other time i ate snow ice in Sg is a bazaar for $3.50 and the servings were miserable and the topping was a little pinch of grounded peanuts.. this is BETTER than the Kim Gary's in JB too!! Candice and i had 1.5 servings each cos it was really really good!! which was why i bravely introed it to emily, xiu mei and yanyi the next day!! =)

Shavings come in Milk, Black Seseme Seed, Peanut, Green Tea, Champain Grape (those i remember cos i tried =p).. toppings got loads to choose from.. and they have realli chio and nice gals at the stall (okie, not main pt)!! I love the combi- peanut shavings with soursop toppings!! go ahead and have fun!! hahaha.

Thanks gals for accompanying me down all the way to Can 2 for lunch! It was really fun with you guys and it made me feel much better, so now i have sth positive to remember the day by, instead of the awful Black Knight car with no. plate SGF 3920 K. hahaha!!

Parkway FoodCourt at Basement has a little steamboat section which i've always ignored... Till bro brought me there to try it out!

Turned out to be realli shoik!!! i've not eaten steamboat for abt a year le!! lolz, so deprived! But i realli enjoyed myself and the food!! hahahaha thumbs up for my bro!!

Total we spent like $20 per person lah.. but it was realli super worth it!! Bro chose Tom Yam soup- which isn't one of my fav.. but it turned out that it was fantastic!! esp with rice!! muz order the rice with it! and also since they don't offer tau pok, order the toufu skin to soak up the soup!! He also introed me to Glue- seafood glue, sotong glue, chicken glue.. Bro taught me how to get the Glue off the plate and say now i know how to act zai if i eat with my friends! =) hahahaha Bet they all not as ulu as me lah..

Also, had my fill of my childhood fav- quail eggs!!

Uber uber nice! Had such a yummy time!! =)
Btw, that's a $160+ tee bro is wearing i think.. tt's why muz avoid the steam.. =p

JJ rented a shop at the NTU Bazaar to sell her clothes! Candice and i went down to support! =) *and eat yummy yogart which was located juz opposite JJ's stall!! hahahaha

I've shopped my month's limit there i think.. haha.. but it's damn worth it!! i dunno how JJ gets her stuff, which are really cheap and good!! Candice and i literally shopped till we dropped. lolz.

We liked the table cloth JJ bought for her stall, so we decided to use it as backdrop for our pics =p We plomped ourselves on the floor and snapped away..

So far, we've been eating in 206 class! lolz.. Every monday is Starbucks delivery! Candice and i will buy coffee for my group mates (3 of us + a new mate Vanessa) that we will sip thruout class.. lol. Then there was Vday when JJ bought us Haagen Dazs Icecream! eh, we ate those during class too.. bcos will melt. Tutor gave us the "disapproving look" abt the icecream but didn't say anything.. hahaha.. Our tutor's quite cute lah.. the shy-shy, let-live type. He'll tell us about his hang over.. and he sips coffee (from Can B) during class too! =)

Anywayz, muz treasure the times we have now when both of us have the freedom and time to go and makan and hang out! Soon he'll go London to study le.. And i'll start work.. haiz.

So far, we'll eaten breakfast once- at Marine Parade Market!! Ate the famous pork porridge!! i love love the pork porridge there- price is high for porridge lah $3.. but the liao (ingrediants)!! It's very very substantial and full of pork stuff!! - pork balls, pork liver, pork slices in every spoonful! And the you tiao, thou few is perfect with the ginger and silky smooth porridge!! That's my kinna porridge =)

Also ate at Fish & Co!! We on budget lah.. cos must polish our cars for the New Year.. hehe. So basic- shared starter and mains from the set menu. Okie, here's a warning- don't like their penne garlic-lemon mussles!! I love their starter version where they give you bread to dip into that oh-yummy-goodness gravey.. but this dish was full of pasta and no balance.. =S But Fish & Co is still good lah.. who can resist their rice?? ~ i can't!! =)

Finally got to try it!!

So happy to finally had the opportunity to go Serene Center! haha, namesake lorz! The last time i've been there was sec sch.. that was... at least 5 years ago!! i wanna buy a Serene House!!

Ah, i digress.. Island Creamery- heavenly icecream!! i've read abt their blackforest in the papers- and on my first visit with candice, immediately tried it! wowz, the dark chocolate was so rich and creamy!! It was quite late when we went there so i had less cherries- but JJ says normally there's lots of cherries!! i love cherries.. hahaha. My fav fruits- Mango and cherries!

But seriously, i think their best is not the BlackForest.. i adore their Apple pie and Pineapple Tart flavours!! The apple pie has slices of caramel apple (the type in real apple pies!!) in it!! and the bits of crumble juz gives it enough crunch! Vanilla icecream was dotted with cinnamon- light flavours, refreshing and cleansing. Cinnamon added spice and apple slices with it= absolute perfection!! ~ Pineapple Tart's similiar to Apple pie- got frozen pineapple in it, and the biscuit was more salted than the crumble.. but still a delightful flavour- icecream takes away all acidity in the pineapple and makes it such a exotic and delectable desert!!

They also have novelty flavours for the more adventureous! JJ says they have Tiger Beer.. lolz.. i ask why they don't use higher quality beer.. Heinikein beter lorz.. =p Then juz nice that day... they served Guiness!! which is not bad- for a beer icecream i guess =p but would have prefered if they were more generous with the Guiness leh.. It's like wanna be different but scared too different - No lorz.. it's a good idea!! =)

My 2nd trip there with candice and jj was realli sweet!! JJ said she went toilet and came back with 2 beautiful red roses!! one for candice, one for me! Such a surprise!! Lolz, realli touched! As candice said: "we feel loved!!" hahahaha yay!

CNY muz go Chinatown!! =)
Find that i've been frequenting there nowadays!! quite familiar with where's what and the eateries there.. lolz. Kinna cool...
Went there to jalan jalan and dinner juz last weekend!

Parents went to park the car, so bro, gramma and i went to walk around first.. We ended up buying 1 kg + of sweets!! (1st pic)!! lolz.. since bro paid for it (nearly $20 lah), bro gets to ration it =) Realli addictive thou! i loved that they had the soft soft muachi kinna sweet with peanut filling in it!! we bought so many of that flavour lah... hahahaha

Next, went to Da Dong to eat! - which is at the junction along Smith Street.. we had their taster platter, yu sheng and some other dishes.. eh, sorriz, this is a negative post abt it. Not Worth it! Ridiculously expensive okie... felt the pinch even thou dad was the one who paid the bill.. big big pinch. ouch.

Also tried the famous cheezy German Sausages at Chinatown! they're okie-ly cheap la.. i guess.. $3.50 for the cheezy Bratwart (did i spell correct?) one.. $3 for non-cheezy ones.. abit ex lorz.. Rather buy Pan Pacific ones and heat up in my toaster at home.. =p

But... all SHOULD go walk Chinatown near CNY! Quite fun!! and it's then that it realli strikes you in the face that CNY is really coming =)

Went T3 to send my 3ku to london for her biz trip..First time there.. so dunno what to eat.. then short of time, so we took the restuarant with apparently the shortest queue...

Which turned out tt it's short bcos they had a call list.. =p

Okie, i'm sorry if the manager gets to read this.. but Oi, manager! Buck up leh.. the ones who are running the restuarant are the waiters.. and thank god for initiative.. if not, the restuarant will be in a mess...
And lucky for him to get such good workers too! The Pandan Chicken that we ordered turned out to be rancid!! and they were apologetic on the restuarant's behalf.. luckily dad was in a good mood lorz.. the manager didn't even appear to apologise or ask if everyone was okie...

Apart from that.. the food was quite good - in my opinion. My drink was their lemongrass drink which was lovely refreshing and really good! but don't order their iced green tea okie? - it turned out to be.. *gasp* Heaven & Earth green tea at $3! gosh... $2 for ice arh...

Pineapple rice was fragant and delicious.. shrimp seems to be frozen shrimp thou.. cut points for that.. liked the pork floss thou (should have added more lah..)... Thai Green Chicken Curry was not bad- rich in coconut milk thou... but realli quite nice rounded flavour.. Their spicy fried groupa was cripsy and nice! and their cod slice with coconut sauce- quite heavenly!! esp the sauce- eat with rice damn damn nice.. thou also guilt-ridden =p

Deserts: Chendol: we asked for no sugar- so the waiters actually gave us the brown syrup aside- which was realli nice cos it did need sugar, and it's to our discretion =) but price-wise, not worth it.. Go Hollywood @ Bedok interchange food center- best Chandol i've ever tasted!
Tapicocca: oooh.. sweet goodness.. =) this one was realli well done and delicious! i could have finished the whole plate.. =p

All in all, pleasant dinner with family.. Company was the one which made the difference thou =)

One of my cuz - Joelle juz came back from the States doing her PhD there (Clever rite?) My aunt was realli nice to org a lunch to wish her safe flight before she went back states. Her choice place- Robataya @ Robertson- which is at Mohamud Sultan there for those who are as tortise like me.. =p

Anywayz, since she's already safely in states by now (this is a looong overdue post =p) Here's wishing her great fun times ahead over there!! =)

Sorry onward to food!! cos this is one place i sooo wanna go back to!!

They had set lunches on a sat!! and their set lunches are all below $20!! realli realli good deals! some are as cheap as $13! (depends on what you order lah...) their best is their lamb (which is their most ex).. heh, okie.. who am i to comment on price lah.. cos actually.. my aunt treated all of us! =) Thanks dai ku!!

My cuz and i shared our set meals- we had lamb chops (2 thinly sliced but oh-so-tenderly-juicy-and-good ~ please try it with the little dash of mustard at the side!! it's good both with or without.. but good in different ways!)and unagi (which was also realli well done with the thick sauce realli grilled into every strand of deli meat!). The set also comes with many little sides- the best!! is their starter-clam salad (1st pic) which doesn't look like much.. but their salad dressing is foamed with little dots of either sago or caviar.. the clam bits were generous and gave a chewy contrast to the foamy dressing.. oh-so-good!!

Other sides were the escargots - which i didn't realli like.. =X the super fresh and thickly sliced sashimi (the thicker the better in japan), some fish cake (which i didn't try cos i don't realli like fish cake) and grilled egg plant(which was served in a pretty little dish).

What truly struck me was the pride in the place- they greet you really loudly when you enter! gave us quite a shock! lolz.. then they serve your mains on these sticks (see 2nd last pic) and you feel special- as if those mains were made juz for you! =) also, like a good restuarant, your green tea cup is never empty!! realli realli good meal!! =)

Was supposed to meet matt in the evening for movie- AVP2.. since i had time in the afternoon, brought dear Recce out for a walk!! (i had a sprained ankle then, so can only walk, no runs.. =p)

Happily happily till suddenly it started to rain!! so we took shelther at one of those little bus-stop-like shelthers. Bored so i ended up listening to radio and snapping pics of Recce!

Yar, as you can see.. it was from realli exciting to realli boring.. hahaha

Later, received news that Matt couldn't make it that nite, so postphoned to next day...

Next day had sch!! but luckily candice drove and accompanied me till matt came~ thanks gal!
Matt and i had a quick dinner at Carl's JR!! (my first time trying it) and here's what we ordered:

Looks yummy huh? lolz. it tasted quite good too!! Loved their big big onion rings!! and godz, their drinks were free flow, and their drink cups were sooo huge!! couldn't even finish one cup, let alone go fill up for 2nds...

So for the record, Carl's JR - realli not tt bad; and AVP2- realli quite disappointingly bad.

&@&@& JB Trip during the Dec Hols &@&@&

Off to JB with Matt, Yan Ting and Joyce during the Dec hols!! lolz.. didn't go any where during the hols mah.. so this is my "overseas" trip for dec lorz. So glad to met up with Joyce again!!! she's my IRAS collegue!! didn't see her for like nearly 3 years le.. and she didn't change much! (can still recognise her! =) but she lost so much weight!) i do miz her and jiayi quite often ~ esp during tax topics!! hahaha i miz those days when we would sneak off to slack.. or when we ganged up against mdm lee (one of our superiors) who was always biased against us. damn fun! but also damn ku to work in IRAS lorz.. lol.. Anywayz, in a twist of fate- she turned out to be Yanting's gf! and Yanting's matt's good friend! so yar, so small the world...

The food across the causeway is like... world's apart!! love love love!!

We had lunch at ShiLin- according to matt- their's is much more similiar to the authentic one in TW!! and yar, it's super super good! so are their other snacks- the oyster mee swa and the pork floss wrap!! realli reali nice!! worth travelling all the way there and waiting to pass customs juz to get a bite lorz! =p

We sang Kbox again! hahaha.. juz can't get enough of their lovely colorful rooms and tasty tasty snacks/ set meals!
For dinner, we had Kim Gary - like the time i went with candice and her ML collegues.. the food there damn nice for a damn good price! The baked cheese rice was terrific.. and for desert- all of us had their choc-strawberry snow ice!! oooh, i miz that one so much...

Really fun to have gone with them!! Enjoyed myself till beat.. * i almst juz crashed into bed when i reached home... with lots of memories to keep..
We need to do this again okie? =)

~*~*~ In Rememberance ~*~*~

Today, received news that Tham Pong has passed away.

Have known him since i was in primary school.. Always on the plump side- if there was a living version of the fat laughing buddha- well, it's him =) Think he enjoys his food too- lolz, fits my philosophy. He's always smiling. Radient in a quiet sorta way, and yet outgoing and talking to people.

My memories of him are of him asking me about handphones when i got my first hp in secondary school when we were entertaining the temple's cats... of him trying to communicate with us (cos we don't understand thai and english's foreign to him..) and of him every Vesek and CNY stationed near the Goddess of Mercy to give blessings to devotees. I'm not sure if he's realli high ranked or wad.. but wad's important was that he seemed to always enjoy his job. Big splashes of water (blessings) would come our way with a big smile on his face. Sincere, full hearted giving. It doesn't matter if the water ain't realli gona bring luck or wad.. it's giving of good, hoping for good.. Brings a sense of comfort.. cos it doesn't matter if i've been sh*t thruout the year, every year the blessings come regardless and i'll be sure to go home wet from Tham Pong's and Chau Koon's well wishes.

He's one of the 2 monks that i look forward to see every time i set foot in the Thai temple.(it's the temple which Nicolas Tse's parents frequent~ i saw the guy there once =p) Monks and female devotees are supposed to keep distance- so it's not as if we were close so tt's not why i'm writing this. But it's at that place where i find peace amongst chaos. Not only is the place tranquil and quiet- it's the huge amount of respect that wisdom is present here that makes me feel somewhat comforted in destiny and faith. Now that he has left, the place just seems a tad emptier... But in Budhism, we believe death brings us to a better place or gives another chance of rebirth... so there's no cause of sadness, other than the little that resides within me cos he's with us no more.

But I can't help thinkin tt he's in the heavens, and there's bound to be nice great showers of blessings comming from above =)

maybe some coming on tonight~ since there are nice cool breezy winds.

Thank you for this part of life.

Thank you for lil' bits of wisdom.

Taste Paradise!! along Mosque Street

If you're a foodie, this is the place!!
Super ex!! soooo glad i can eat without worrying abt the bill.. heh. It came up to over 120 per person!! Dad juz allowed us to order what we wanted!! and omg, it was really delicious!!

Starters: Peking duck with pork floss (nth special to me lah..), curry mayo prawn seated on a slice of watermelon (i thought the watermelon was alittle cheap- it wilted with the heat of the prawn too.. warm watermelon is not nice..).. but the pan-fried foire grais- perfection!! absolute luxury... nice nice nice nice nice nice! melts on your tongue.. makes every bit counts!

Okie, i slipped- Shark's fin soup. Not a fan of shark's fin on principle. I like sharks.. So i didn't eat the fins and juz drank the soup =) Boiling pipping hot served in the stone bowl with a stick of pastry to dip in!! gorgous. If only they could do without the shark's fin...

Their lamb was a really small portion. But it's the most tender i've tasted. Very very skilled and delicate.
Pork rib was fatty (as delicious ones are..) and but i still prefer the one at tunglok.
Abalone noodles was a hit! - spicy noodles with a small abalone on the side..

Deserts were super interesting! came bubbling on a globlet of dry ice- i had avocado cream with walnut icecream! their set-dinners came with mango sago-which was also really good, thick and nice!

Overall, a really good place to try! *if you have the cash.. tt is.

Well, we had a Xmas pot-luck =)

JJ brought Penang Prawn Mee!! which was why she was late- and why candice and i almost believed tt she was coming in a police car.. =p The soup v hot n spicy!! but got kick and the prawn flavour v nice!

The yummy looking tub of melted cheese was -believe it- homemade sheperd's pie by hl! it was v v nice! really impressive..

The cali-maki was candice's contribution- this is our fav! from the Sakura Fish Market at Parkway!!

And mi provided Pan Pacific sausages =)

Hl's bday- we celebrated at Waraku @ Marina Square!

3rd level is full of japanese eateries!! whoever was the genius to think of that.. =)

Okie, the ramen shop is the only one on the 3rd level - i forgot the name again...- they have a counter juz like the ramen shops in japan which you can sit at and watch the chef prepare.. but i fancy the counter's too high to see anything... but food-wise.. it's realli old school i guess.. broth is extremely rich and the char siew was extremely fatty. So healthy ppl beware.. but if you don't mind.. it's ramen to die for.. the noodles are slurpy goody and the broth is... lolz, i drank most of it thou i felt guilty afterwards.. =p

Deserts galore at Azuki sabo!! they're on the 1st level, near Subway. Everything is sweet and oh-so-pretty here!! i love the sweet potato bits!! and it holds true to the way the japanese maximize each ingrediant's potential.. it's like, every bit is good on it's own, and yet essential to the whole. Their banana custard ice-mountain was full of chocolate!! it even came with EXTRA chocolate! We couldn't finish it all!! Absolute yumz. Luv deserts =)

During the dec hols Big 4 was holding their interviews.. i applied for PWC and EY only (cos wasn't sure tt i wanted audit)... PWC's interview was terrible.. the lady senior manager who interviewed me was quite tough. =( But surprisingly, i got offers from both =) I learnt alot from tt PWC interview too.. she was sharing with me her own experience and opinions.. and i realize it's really rough out there.

Decided to go to EY cos of the really beautiful office and tt the culture seemed to be more suited to me- fun loving and their promised me ctrl over my career pursuits.. Went for their movie screening with zy, meng, sumin and others- and there on the seats were placed a tub of popcorn and ice cold bottle of coke! so sweet.. lolz.

During the hols i also had to work for dad.. he has been really busy and yar, i've been lazing at home.. so kena lugged to office to do stuff. Above are all the really nice food i ate for lunch! =) lor mee from Eunos market, Wanton mee from the famous Feifei @ Joo Chait, and the peanut icekatang frm Eunos market. And the last 2 pics are my collegues aka lunch buddies- MeiFen and Jiayi =)

Met up with matt! lolz.. like finally? (cos it means tt exams are over!) haha.. so glad to see him again after all the crazy-ness this sem. Somehow, it's always reassuring to see him... Esp since both of us have had a totally potentially-sucky sem.. and juz glad that we're both still alive =)

Thanks for always being there. Thru the ups and downs.. and never giving up. The future is never certain, but you'll always have my support too!

Felt like the jc days... In a good way.
I feel so old saying that.. lolz.

Matt recommended the place below Hereen which was the ol' Marche. Forgive that i don't remember the name of the place. There's basically no/little change in that place. It's brighter, and there are some new dishes which i think wasn't there before.. The decor is still beautiful and exquisite! we sat at the sofa seats.. dangerously comfy.. we were so happily filled with our meal it was so difficult to get our asses off the sofa..

Food-wise.. it was fantastic!
We shared our mains so that can taste more.. heh. Rosti with egg and sausage; and baked rice with chicken! I'm practically addicted to sausages nowadays.. esp these ones from pan pacific! they sell for $10 per packet of 5 at cold storage.. and one is enough to fill me up! (with a slice of bread) such heaven.. hahaha.. anywayz, the rosti was delightful! but muz eat with the sour cream!! if not it'll b abit bland and boring after awhile... Glad they served it with the deli sausage and sunny-side-up!

The baked rice was heaven!! Served on a hot heated metal dish, it remained steamy hot to the last morsel!! the aunty who manned the station was obviously proud of her creations!! she encouraged us to order from her, waited realli patiently as we tried to make up our minds and made those dishes with such pride! ~ i was so impressed. And the dish was realli realli good. Warms your tummy.. and realli addictive! i finished my share even thou i was already filled up with rosti!

i realli wanted to eat the caramel banana crepe again! but... the main course was so good.. and we didn't have enough space in our tummies.. lolz. next time ba!! And juz allow me to muse: why they continue the stupid practice of not serving free water? Singapore tap water is drinkable lorz. Places that don't serve free plain water shouldn't be allowed to charge service tax.

Later tt evening, ate the mango ice katchang @ Xin Wang HK cafe at Siglap - now i'm quite sick of it le.. =p ate it so many many times!! hahaa. Glad Matt liked it! =) And also, each of us bought some bread from the Gourmet Breadtalk at Paragon!! that slice of bread roll with pork floss, bacon bits and chives costs $2.20! tt's like one packet of chicken rice.. realli rich (buttery) and flavourful. But so guilt-ridden!! =p

Joined Yannie and Xueqi for dinner (another day).. i realli miss them!! juz seeing them again is theraputic.. even thou it was only for a short while.. all of us were realli tired. but it was a pleasant night out.

I couldn't find the place. Drove round and round.. and finally juz gave up and stopped some strangers along the road to ask for directions.. should have done that earlier lah. See? don't need street directory.. best source is passerbys (after mom and helpful friends) =p Oh well.. now i know that area rather well =)

Finally got there!! 2 of them already finished a plate of calamari before i arrived lah!! hahaha.. (yar, i was tt late). We realli wanted to hear the live band sing.. but apparently we were there on the wrong night.. =S Better luck next time.

Food was realli good!! i had their fish and chips, and their portion was realli big!! would have gone real well with beer!! (reminded me of Brewerks!) The fish was so soft and the batter was so crisp.. such a beautiful contrast. But their food is generally oily.. and some of the fries were over-cooked. But it was value for money!! Simple dining =)

I love you guys!!

On the way home, Xueqi and i talked abt growing old.. Suddenly we're in tt stage to have this kinda topics.. lolz. Thanks gal for always lending a listening ear and such great advice.

Love the pasta there!! prices are quite reasonable, and it was impressive that our water glasses were always full! JJ chose these little cosy round sofa seats to sit at.. and it's like our very own space. We were so tired (from running in the rain and walking ard..) and filled with pasta! Everything you see above was wonderful and yummy! we finished everything!!! =)

We went to watch Stardust!! JJ finished her papers early, so she reserved the movie tics for us and even bought us donuts to munch on!! We had hot chocolate and donuts at B&J's as we waited for the movie to start! V relieved that papers are over!! Was so tired.. i admit- i was the only one who didn't realli contributed- JJ reserved tics and bought donuts, hl carried the donuts and our clothes *heh, and Candice drove.. =p

Anywayz, during my exams, my bro realli pampered me!! hahaha.. we went out for lunch quite often!! ate the Xin Wang HK cafe (below 2pics - sliced fish mui fan and eel porridge) at Siglap (next to Cartel) many many times, bought waffles v v often (peanut waffles from the bread shop juz next to the Kindergarden at Parkway), and bro introed me this traditional desert shop near Popular Bookstore.. their deserts aint fantastic.. but it's like.. the only place which sells traditional desert around here.. and the pic above was juz so pretty cldn't resist posting it up. Hehe.

Also, during one of our last study sessions at Holland V Starbucks, JJ bought/ made us breakfast!! She bought the little plump sausages from cold storage the day before, and warmed some bread before we went to pick her up!! We had the warm yummy juicy sausages served on warm bread by JJ! =) Warmed our hearts to start a day of stressful studying. So sweet!! =p

THIS, is one of my FAV buffets!!! =)

Family lunch during Depavalli!! yay!!

They have different sections for different crusines - japanese has the sashimi and appetitizers, north indian with their delicious nuns, curries and terriyaki chicken (i love their garlic and herb nun!! it runs out quite fast, and the chef takes great pride in remaking the batches!! so muz take some, and watch him remake the batches!).. also, a chinese section (dimsum and stuff), thai section (wasn't realli keen), and the best section to me- the western section!! - I love love their soft and buttery mash potato, and it's the ONLY section whereby the flavours were well balanced- a good mix of light and heavy dishes.. their rice dish (which changes), are always good, and their veg offerings always have sth special. Loved the zuchini and their seasonal mushrooms.

I know i gotta lot of favs.. But realli, if you're a desert fan like me, this is the place for deserts galore!! they have like, a whole section dedicated to deserts- from asian to european to the simple delights like choc waffles and icecream; and cranberry breadpudding!!

Best of all, they have a special display for Tapias!! *bottom right pic!*

They also have their usual cakes: above-left is their Palova with passion fruit (looks gorgous!!) and their nutella choc cake!! The desert section spans the whole outer section- first section serves freshly made waffles with terrific icecream!! and MUZ try their macadamia cookies which are offered at the side counter.. Terrific!! Their cranberry breadpudding are for the health-concious and totally guilt-free even with the vanilla sauce!

Next section is the cakes (both western and noya offerings) and tapias (the ones i ate are seen below..) and the last section is the healthy fruits and ice-katchang! Their ice-katchang section not like others- they offer mango as a topping- chunks of mango, not the syrup!!

Bro and i didn't want to eat dinner at home...

So we went out to Aston's! Braved the queue on a Friday night!! hahaha.. I like Aston!! If only they did more with meats other than steak... I DON'T EAT BEEF!!! sighz.. why why..

But if you ask me, their chicken is juz as good!! Tender tender chicken with realli great sauces.. i tried their lemon lime- which was perfect, and today, i tried their bbq!*bro's good choice* which was also realli good too!! We had their chicken and sauage platter, and a plate of their pork chop!!

Pork chop wasn't good- sauce was nice, but the meat was tough and dry. I like juicy pork chops. Bro was nice to cut up the bits of meat for me.. He has a rather hard time. But the company was good!! Love going out with my bro!!! =)

We had 4 sides in total! (2 per main)- they ran outa tasty rice!! Soooooo sad =(
Had their coleslaw - which was our only veg!! hahahaha.. refreshing with the red cabbage!! not only color nice, the taste was nice too!! The other realli nice side was the baked potato!! realli warm and soft.. makes you go.. oooh. that's good... =)

Sausages!! little plump ones!! very tasty!! i like!! =)
The previous sausage taster dish was brought to the Steak House, which is at along Joo Chiat. These will do.. These satisfy the sausage craving juz as well!! =)

Zen at Marine Clove- East Coast Park =)

Went there once during the hols!! Candice and i were craving for their oysters!! *top-right* Fresh fresh oysters!! @ $1 each!! lolz.. we ordered 4 each ( 8 in all!!) and finished them as soon as they were served!! The first pic is their tempura oyster with mango salsa- v v spicy!! oyster was juz as fresh thou!! would have loved the oyster on it's own.. the mango needs work!

Presentation for all dishes were absolute perfection thou!! i ordered their seafood curry with rice- which was shiok! Do if you like spicy thou.. First taste is creamy and smooth.. then, it kicks at the back of the throat! Fire.. =) Everything in that bowl tasted good!! i found myself fishing up every single morsel to try!! Mushrooms were also added, and it was so refreshing to find them amongst the curry!!

Candice ordered black pepper udon- i don't like neither black pepper nor udon, so i'm not realli fit to comment. But she left a substantial "bit" behind.. so not all dishes are perfect at Zen.. But, yar yar, go there for oysters!! ooh, yumz... =)

Has been raining incessantly recently.. i love rain - would love it more if i could afford to stay in bed all day!! Rainy days are also good for warm, comfort food.

This week:

Monday was Quad day - went to Quad and tried the laksa.. omg, i cannot believe we have such quality in NTU!! Laksa gravy was thick and creamy.. I would have it with spagetti as pasta!! (the soupy type)! it's realli good.. and nice! The tou-pok were drenched totally in gravy tt juz bursts in your mouth! and loved tt they added pieces of chicken into it! Added another layer of flavour.. and realli value for $$! no wonder most pp in the queue are from china!! hahahaha..

Hl passed his driving!! =) Congrats dude!!
lolz, as celebration, we made him take the 3 ladies out for dinner!! And JJ knows the best place again!! - Breeko!! lolz.. okie, my bad that i was realli tired and we were realli too hungry to wait for me to take pictures ~ We waiting realli patiently *stomaches a-growl* for hl to finish his elective which ended at a ridiculous 830.. so Candice and jj would realli have killed me if they had to wait anymore!! Jacket potato which they call Tatos - are realli nice! so is the mozerella toasts ~ my absolute favs!! the mushrooms were terrific too! and so was the pizza - we ordered the pork one!! thou i'm definitely goin back to try other flavours!! =) oh yar, above is hl's beef hamburger! lolz.. dun ask me how it tastes like- i dun eat beef.. but hl finished it all!! so muz be of reasonable standard =)

While one of our study sessions at Starbucks, Candice satisfied her craving for Burger King's Mushroom Swis and JJ and i decided to eat crystal jade porridge!! Smuggled them into Starbucks so we could study while we eat.. *sighz. so desprete rite...

Anywayz.. the porridge was realli heavenly!! so so so nice on a rainy cool day.. if only i was at home in bed instead of worrying about chps to cover... sighz. Also, JJ had the terrific idea to get xiao long baos (below) from the other crystal jade place! so we had the best of both worlds.. =) chinese food with coffee does taste aw-so-good!! hahahahha

Have been addicted to starbucks coffee and waffles!! ahhahaha!

Drank at least one cup of coffee a day for the past 3 days!! Apparently no effect on me leh... =S

My new fav is Peppermint Mocha!!
it's one of the xmas specials.. love that they took the effort to print snowflakes on the cup for xmas. hahaha.. i'll juz order with alittle whip cream juz to get the sprinkle of red sugar bits on the top! =p i dun like the toffee nut at all.. 2nd current fav is java chip followed by caramel (good for sugar rush!!)~ Both bro and me like java chip & caramel.. Easy to buy la, you wan which one, i juz take the other lorz. Think i'm passing on the addiction to bro.. lolz. better not lorz... =p

Bought friday's lunch in for bro!! =)

Was craving for pork chops from the food center (Kopi tham) near the Market.. $10 for a pack!! expensive.. but nice =) 2 of us polished the whole lot!! plus shared one peanut waffle + one almond bubble milk tea ea. + one bowl of sliced / fried fish porridge each!! the one at this particular food center is the absolute BEST! mom will agree too!! hahaha.. love their soup.. $3 per bowl, but realli value!! SaTisFacTion!!!

Peanut Waffles to go with coffee!! the one at Marine Parade (not Terrace), below the kindergarden- is my fav!! but bro say their standard's not uniformed one.. so far so good for me.. =) Great with bubble tea too!! buy from the Sweet Talk in the hawker center okie? $1 each onli.. don't ask for iced blended. BEST bubble tea's at Eunos, near the fruit store, if you bother to drive down..

Had to go settle the Big 4 application- apparently mine's not succesful cos i lost my A lvls cert (rather, i think i didn't receive it... and now muz reprint).. and noone said muz buy envelopes to enclose nice nice.. took more than 3 hours to settle the application thingy. so mafan for nth. sighz.

Anywayz, was done with stuff and went join candice and jj for studying cos of AA306 quiz. Lunch was at Crystal Jade juz nearby.

JJ's recommends their prawn horfun and seafood claypot porridge- both which are superbly good! the prawn-paste chic not nice.. v oily. the chee cheong fun realli cannot compare to tung lok's.. i miss tung lok's prawn chee cheong fun- skin muz be translucent and smooth... slurping-material! hahaha.. but their porridge and horfun is realli realli seriously good.. JJ has solid taste! hahaha.. and i love their shrimp wan ton mee (soup, not dry).. springy springy- always order that when eat with family @ crystal jade!!

Dinner was next door to Starbucks - Essential Brew - first time there!! and i love the place upstairs.. seriously romantic and relaxing.. it's platform with big red cushions to lean against the wall..

The food for me was terrific =) i love their jasmine-infused rice!! such fragance!! I ordered their honey-mustard chic- it was realli realli yum!!! i loved it alot!! like.. simplistic yet such full of flavour and balanced. not v heavy on the platter.. juz nice for a satisifying dinner.. We changed their seasonal veg to wedges as seen above, and it was a good choice! can use it to dip the honey mustard syrup =)

I don't really like mondays. For reasons even other than "it's monday".

But today was pretty good.

Good news for AA306- tutor liked our presentation last week - read his comments this morning when i checked email. And althou i forgot that today had AA306 lesson, managed to offer some croaked reasoning... And Jane's group- who was presenting today- kindly decided to reward us with m&ms for that croaked reasoning! =) 2 packets! -one packet of plain, one packet peanuts! and turns out, i'm the only one at my table that loves peanuts... so we had a little debate over "peanuts is better than plain".. and yes, Peanuts IS better than plain =)

My AA306 tutor also has nasty handwriting... i was realli tired and frus at squinting.. so walked across the classroom to copy wadever he was writing.. Joined Emily's group's table.. and that's when Emily offered me pizza-flavoured biscuit rolls!! (dunno the brand lah..).. She juz suddenly reached below the table (in her bag, i assumed) and took out a packet and offered me! lolz!! such a pleasant surprise.. i asked for 4, and balanced them on my paper back for my group (1 each!).. thanks Emily!! =) so nice!!

And also, Kellyn's group won some kinder brunuo... and she gave Candice one! and Candice shared hers with us!! lolz.. thanks kellyn for the kind donation, and thanks Candice dear for sharing blessed gifts! =)

Lastly, AA304 was fun!! esp with JJ & Yong Qiang (JJ's group mate)!! YQ thinks Peanut m&ms is Better too!! hahahaha =p wish everyday's lessons could be filled with this much fun!

Candice fetched me home, and we popped by parkway cos we were hungry.. bought us curry puffs from ol' kiang chee!! i've not had it in such a looong time!! so i bought one for candice- who drove home first, cos i was meeting my mom! ~ whom i shared the other curry puff! nice cool weather and steaming hot curry puffs! luv luv. mom bought bubble tea and waffles to take home too!! but no guilt!~ we tried to work out- jogged recce juz before dinner!

My ms card in my phone is max-ing.. Tt's good, no? Ate dinner out with JJ 2 times this week!! First time at Au Petit, today at Marmelade Pantry!! Truly truly indulgence!!

-Au Petit-
Au Petit first! Set Dinner's abt $48++, comes with starter, main and desert. Our starters were escargots and the baby squid salad- both were good. i love their escargots!! served their way in the red clay dish-tray, totally drowned in pesto!

Mains: Duck Confit and Seafood risotto!! i love love love their risotto.. seafood and prawns were fresh.. perfect COMFORT food.. made me wish i had the talent to cook like that.. cool day with a bowl of this hot mulnch infront of the tv... tt would be.. wowz.

DESERTS!! pay $4 more for hot chocolate cake- comparabe to Baker's Inn's!! theirs has choco custard inside, Baker's Inn's more runny choc.. Ice cream is home made, taste of elegance! And of cos, Creme Brulee!! hahaha.. v v thin and sweet crust that juz melts in your mouth with as the custard slids down your throat... thin layer- cos they know it's good! =)

I love their decor- simplistic white- elegant, pure and the little white puffs of blooms juz adds a soft touch..

We wanted to cheat by parking juz outside, opposite the resturant.. JJ sat across me, facin the street to watch out for any police/ warrants on the prowl.. suddenly, "police!!".. dashed to drive my car off and was quite lucky to find a lot at the carpark almost immediately... =) turns out the police were juz there to chase cars out so that they could close the street.. which is funny... cos it's a deadend street anywayz =p

Back to food...
Shared starter: Softshell crabs with rocket and coleslaw.. Their dressing was realli good with the rocket.. Softshell crab's juz simplistic luxury.. batter was crunch, and crab was fresh! we asked for wasabi mayo, and it was ooooh... lolz. the little plump cherry tomatoes were grilled to bring out maximum sweetness!! they were like little burst of sweet in your mouth!! yumz! =)
Mains: JJ's teriyaki salmon and soba - the salmon is one of the best!! i hate salmon which is overcooked.. theirs retain the texture that makes salmon such an extravagant fish!! we both loved it!!

I had the waiter's recommendation: Linguine and crabmeat in tomato sauce with a scattering of pinenuts.. it's really quite good- other seafood were mixed in to give it a realli seafood combi. Sauce is thick and there were plenty of crab meat!! Pinenuts juz brings flavour to a whole new level!! so they're actualli essential!! But pales in comparison to Zuko's.. i'm not a fan of tomato-based sauces, i guess.. =p

Deserts are to die for!!!

We had 2: Chocolate Truffle Cake (above) and their renowned, yannie-recommended, sticky date pie with toffee and vanillia bean icecream!!

Choc Truffle Cake is realli realli rich... cannot finish by oneself one.. and the portion is huge too! But the choc they use is realli good quality choc.. one cake can last for a whole afternoon! heaven if accompanied with a cuppa hot tea!! definitely for hard-core choc lovers!!

Sticky Date Pie with toffee and vanilla bean icecream!!

This is INDULGENCE at it's max!! i never thought dates and toffee cld be together.. but this isn't as sweet as i expected it to be.. in fact, it was more than juz nice... more than perfect.. this is.. joygasm in a mouthful... after mouthful.. after mouthful!!! This is one desert that tops my charts and rocks my soxs!! =D

2 dinners this week and, hopefully, more to come!! thanks for accompanying me for dinner!! i realli enjoyed myself!! BOTH food and company!! =) luv ya gal!

Note that all the toppings are at one side.. tt's bcos JJ held it vertically to disguise it as a file while Candice and i bought coffee to distract the Starbucks staff... =p lolz.

Pizza and coffee are nice. Staff at restuarants- one at starbucks and the staff at Aimicili- are not. So much for increase to 7% GST..

Rediscover Parkway

Sakura Jap Fish Market - tt's the name of all the yummy sashimi and green tea ice cream (refer to post abt sneaking them into kbox) and.. yes!! California Maki! this is the only Cali Maki that i eat and actually CRAVE for!! hahaha.. it gives you a pleasurable sense of satisfaction- the avocado and mayo mix juz soothes all the day's frustrations away!!

Sashimi platter above isn't on the menu- you get to choose your own cut of sashimi from the display, then the chef will slice it for you! i've been craving for sashimi Aji (Horse Mackerel) for a damn long time le... but sadly, they don't have it.. settled for Shime Saba ( which is marinated mackerel~ i think, forgot le).. and it's realli realli good! ~ i finished all tt fish sashimi you see there cos Candice don't like fishy taste.. The taste is firm and fresh, with the ginger and scalions, absolute perfection! Candice had their sashimi ebi (sweet shrimp)! and we both shared a plate of our fav Cali Maki!! We both savoured our portions throughly!!! and almost ended up late for our presentation in sch!! Enjoyed too much le, forgot abt time..... =p

Opposite Parkway is the hawker center linked to the market (near Macs). In effort to spend less, due to our recent shopping sprees, we decided to go value for lunch! At the end of the hawker, hiden in a corner is this fish-meat soup which has a queue!! (nearer to NTUC side than Parkway side).. run by a couple from china i think.. the soup isn't as great as my fav stall (at the Marine Parade side), but the portion they give for $2.50 is value!! and the slices of fish are substantial =) Do try if you're in for sth healthy.. We weren't healthy at all.. we had bubble tea! =p

And juz for the record: thin mee fen rocks!!(much much more than thick mee fen) =p

Have been having lunches with my bro! Gonna ORD le, so can clear his leave.. lolz. i realli enjoy having lunches cos he and me got same mindset- order and share!! hahaha.. and yar, quality matters. Pile on calories nvm, as long as they're WORTHWHILE.

Our fav haunt has to the Xin Wang HK Cafe @ Siglap.. back for more- unagi porridge (de-li!) and the mui fan with pork floss!! Both are realli nice in texture and in taste!!

Last pic is from Fish & Co... we wanted to eat sth not so filling.. so we went parkway.. started at Jack's Place - cos got value set meals.. but looked at the menu and decided not value for $$.. so left and went fish and co.. and the bill came up to... *GASP* $70+!!! We ordered our fav mussles with lemon creme sauce, seafood platter for 2 (our default, takes away the pain of having to decide), and the sly manager!! he told us deserts were one-for-one for the seafood platter!! so duh, we ordered desert!! hahaha.. so much for "not so filling"... =p

We studied hard for the AA304 Quiz.. but the questions were so tricky... so saddening and disheartening... ... =(

The rice is fragrant and separates easily.. i can juz eat the rice and the chilli, and the rice and the chilli, and the rice.. it's extremely filling too! Don't be like me, kiasu, order ottah and chicken wing... thought tt i should try everything... Cos seriously, cannot finish!! I ate the chicken wing and the peanut-ikan bilis; and was realli full le... But it's soooo nice!!

Planned to go to Serene Center for desert -icecream! but.. didn't even have space for it. Nvm, that'll be our next indulgence!! =)

Fish & Co with Candice~ we tried to study for our AA304 quiz at Parkway's Starbucks.. but in the end, the smell from Fish & Co lured us in for lunch!! hahaha.. we tried their set lunch - $14++ per pax- shared starter, drink + main course from their selection. We both tried the grilled sambal fish!

it was hot and spicy.. realli realli punched! i didn't finish the fish cos it was simply.. too spicy. Wish they would not add raisins into the rice... And no, waitresses are too clever to fake.. yar, candice? tsk. =p

Here's the name of the cafe infront of topshop/ dorthey perkins @ Parkway which i've raved about.. ready? it's called The Cafe Bar!! =)

Had their featured ham & cheese sandwhich again! and stole substantial amout from Candice's clam linguini. Last pic is the collection of clam shells!!

That was during shopping yesterday!! Still in denial of the amount of money i spent!! Candice rationalized tt we needed a break.. eh, yar, we needed a break =)

^&^&^ Jap Restuarant @ Central ^&^&^

I forgot to find out about the name of the restuarant.. But it's on the 3rd storey, along with all the other jap restuarants... *yar, helpful information huh.. =p

If it helps, it's not the one the udon house, not waraku, and it's the first one you reach when you walk from the escalator (turn left). They have a little waiting area which is separate from the eating area by a cloth screen painted with leaves of autum.. the cashier has a fancy fa cai mao and a little bamboo fountain which i can look at forever...

As according to kj, who was treating me =p, this place is as fusion as it gets.. bosa nova music along with traditional jap fare and decor.. the waitresses speak cantonese. But nvm the strange combi and enjoy the elements alone. Jap decor is one of my favs, and they had displays of bottles of sake lined in the middle of the restuarant... which was so so pretty.. which was also why our sake was chosen due to it's pretty pink color. Which was also the most expensive on the list for its size... (yea, kj ouch. sorriz.) lolz..

But i'm definitely gettin more of this sake!! soothing taste that slicks down your throat.. elegant and refined. Matches the pink bottle! =) The waitress was thoughtful- she thought that since the sake was chosen bcos of the pink bottle, then we should have it in matching pink sake cups!! =)

Food!!
1. Grilled fish roe- alittle portion.. but realli ex!! and for good reason i guess.. it's packed full of flavour and extremely sweet!
2. Fried oysters! they're alittle too dry for me.. but the batter's a winner! =) delightfully light and crisp.
3. soba noodles in light soy broth
4. Grilled cod- the skin is charred thru and thru.. salted with sea salt and terriyaki sauce. Not oily at all!

Before dinner, went to some jap supermarket at Liang Court.. i've never been inside. it's definitely one of the most interesting supermarkets i've been.. and makes me wish tt i was richer!! too many delicious-looking, interesting snacks!! and yes, pricey too.. jap imported wad... lolz.. anywayz, outta the large selection, couldn't resist trying these 2 out: Chotos!!

The Bitter choc is NOT bitter at all!! We got hot tea from Macs to go with them and... yes, heaven! Great alone, but heavenly with hot tea!! Muz try!! simplistic pleasures!! i prefer the bitter choc one cos the choc is alittle sweet for me.. but both are terrific!! Immediately thought of yannie!! lolz.. settled! one bitter choc rusk for your 21st bday present! =)

Holland V is our new venue of exploration. We've proclaimed camp at Starbucks and venture around for lunch! Today's jj's virgin journey, joining us in our quest to study hard for the upcoming 304 quiz.. Fight the Z monster!!

Parking is expensive.... sighz. Happy tearing coupons! =) Lining up the front of my car with coupons... Candice proud of her achievement of counting the intervals to tear the coupons' timings... (Application of math genius!)

*!*!*! Jap Fish Market @ Parkway Basement !*!*!*

Candice's recommendation! I didn't know they had a little place set-up to eat Sashimi! Their californa rolls may not look like much.. but they're joygasmly, craving-prone-ly good! Sashimi was extremely fresh- you buy the whole piece of salmon then they'll slice it up for you!

On our way out, we spotted greentea icecream~ which we smuggled into Kbox and ate with waffles and bubble tea!! hahahaha.. Swirls of green tea sorbet essentuates the creamy conventional green tea icecream! to die for... Soothed our throats for the high notes~!

We sang till 2 am.. was almost locked out of parkway.. luckily there were people preparing for some exhibition in parkway and they kindly guided us in! if not, we faced walking up 5 levels of ramps to the car... lolz. It was amazing.. never seen the carpark so empty before...

I'm realli glad we worked things out =)

Went the the Marina outlet with Candice for a late night snack, the Siglap with Candice again for desert and then with my brother for lunch! =)

The lunch was crazy!! lolz.. my brother and i went on food spree!! bro had curry rice, i had fried rice, mug of iced milk tea each + shared a thick toast + bo lor pau + mango milk ice katchang! Finished em' all in record 1 hour plus... cos needed to go to sch for lessons. I was basically gone for the rest of the day.. slpy slpy... sighz.

Love the metal mugs they come in! so.. authentic... hahaha.. Both times i ate my company ate curry.. i juz stole from them =p

Looong overdue... Juz before school started.. but for some reason, this outing brings a smile. Miz the days at hall 15, i guess. Welfare sessions, outings to kbox, weekly-masks, watching hamsters grow healthy, bathing sessions.. But things change, i guess.. Those times will always have a special place in my heart.
Back to food =)

Hog's Breath Cafe @ Chijmes!!

Yannie recommends their set lunches!! which is SUPER value for $$!! lolz.. it was funny too, now tt i think of it, tt she first showed me the main menu.. then showed me the set menu. the ambience is my fav style- casual and fun! the waiters and waitresses were polite and nice, but they tended to disappear.. partly cos not many patrons i guess.. well, we met up on a weekday! =) one waiter was damn cute. lolz. it'll be nice if they had set meals for dinner and great cheap beer too... cos i'll definitely be a fan!

Set lunch comes with soup - chicken or beef- chicken is family-style, food for the soul -type of soup! + a main dish ( ht had their fish and chips, i took their dijon chicken which comes with avocado sauce, yannie the beef eater took the steak!) + a lovely warm brownie served with vanilla icecream! the mains are all good.. =) ht ate almost all of her fish and chips! (quite a feat okie..) yannie recommends the steak to all other beef eaters (she's a beef expert! if she says it's good, it's good) and their chicken is super yum! (i never imagined avocado this way..) and we all love their crispy curly fries!!! - there's yannie defending her stash of curly fries, lolz =p

*~*~* Cravings Satisfied! *~*~*

This week, i had many of my cravings satisfied!!

Starting with mom cooking one of my fav deserts- beancurd egg soup with ginko nuts!! It's always such a treat!! Unlike the ones outside which are always sweet, mom does it juz right! so i drink lots and lots without any guilt at all! =)

Althou my voice has been MIA most of this week.. it no reason to pass off such yummy nasi lemak!! lolz.. situated along tanjong katong road, near Munchy's Donuts (opposite COH) is this nasi lemak stall which has a perpetual queue!! it opens at 530pm till 2am.. i was there at 535 and already there was a queue!! it's quite ex- 3 dishes for $3.50.. but the rice is very very fragrant, light and fluffy!! the chilli is realli good too! I mixed the chilli into the rice in the pic.. if not, the rice is actually pristine white... worth a try!!

3rd dish is ah bo ling! i love peanuts =) mom bought for me one evening! pleasant surprise!! cos she normally doesn't approve of deserts.. so this was extra sweet! (as in not flavour-wise) =)

I HATE MONDAYS! Ahem. Pardon me.

In need of comfort food to soothe my monday blues, we headed down Quad for lunch! Had their seafood pasta! which looks good, doesn't it? =) well, it's good for canteen food.. loved tt they put in effort to sprinkle and grill some cheese.. We were terribly piggy tt day.. after lunch- we juz observed other ppl buying their food.. and noticed a great deal of ppl buying deserts!! so we decided to check out the deserts!! ~ some puddings and stuff.. but we resisted okie...

This is freaking GOOD carbonara!! the little cafe at Parkway which we had the great sandwhich and cakes/scones- they have set lunches too!! and boy, it's a great value of money!! i love love love this carbonara - hands-down better than Blackboard's.. the cream-cheese-egg sauce juz comfort food that sets you in the hmmm- heaven... pure pure luxury at such a good price!

Set meal is about $12++ to $18 ~ depending on the type of pasta you would like. Set includes free flow bread and a bowl of soup -upgrade $1 for mushroom/ minestrone soup- it's worth it! and don't gorge on bread (like we stupidly did cos we were hungry..) cos the pasta - carbonara (as above) and the seafood pasta (below) are of filling portions and absolutely delicious!!

Seafood pasta- Candice had hers with tomato-based and i tried it tossed Agilo Oilo style. A big big plus point tt they served it with the prawn heads too!! (and detached) such flavour shouldn't go to waste!!

Back to tcc's new menu =)

Tried their new drink- choc frappe with orange tang (i forgot the name).. that one's quite nice esp if you like orange and choc together! Lychee Jazz is the one below. i ordered it cos the pic of it in the menu was so pretty!! and pretty it is! =) but i can't realli taste lychee, apart from the fruit in there... the syrup at the bottom.. tasted like.. well, syrup =p Love the mint leaves thou!! Mint leaves and sodas should go together!! it's the taste of summer.. and so pretty to look at as you sip!

This sem, I made a new friend called Kellyn- who is Candice's friend =) She's realli nice!! They were meeting for project group discussion in the morning before lessons, so i tagged along to sch early (cos candice drove).. and Kellyn actually bought us breakfast!! it was really sweet of her! I lost my voice that day, so i didn't realli get to thank her... so, thanks kellyn!! =)

Hl bought us cornflakes last wed!! which we munched during 830 lecture.. AA306 is so damn hard.. Here's the result of totally lost minds.... We tried okie!! we aimed to start paying attn when the lecturer starts a new "topic".. but oh well.. our conversations are much more entertaining =p but this lecturer is really good.. love his sensibility and presentation. it's juz the content tt is super confusing.. We'll try harder this comming wed.

I know it's end of the week to be blogging about previous weekend.. =p sorry, i've been sick and down. Oh well.. Anywayz, all my posts are mostly late lah... rite? =p

These egg tarts are my ABSOLUTE FAV!! let me share them with all of you! =) And they're super value for money! onli 80 cents.. they're a hellva heaven... Mom bought them for me for tea on sat!! was sooo happy!! hahaha.. cos i didn't eat lunch (overslpt) so it was perfect!! thanks mom!! =) I bet all of you will thank her too! bcos she bought them tt i'm recommending it to you all. hee.. anywayz, the shop's at chinatown- yannie, kaze's been there when we were freshies, playing amazing race in foc remember? lolz.. i love the oh-so-soft custard and puff pastry with a slight drizzle of maple syrup on the top.. esp when it's juz bought warm the shop.. one's almost never good enough!

the other puff is their chicken mushroom puff.. it's made up of a firm crust and lots of stuffing in it! so it's realli good.. i also love their century egg lotus puff which mom didn't buy this time cos it's high in colestrol.... =p

Another indulgence this weekend is B&J's cherry gacia bar!! went out to fetch my grandmother to my uncle's and to fill up the oil tank.. and it's almost fated that i wandered around the shop (cos one guy was taking damn long at the cashier's) and saw tt they had discount on their B&J bars!! 2 for $7!! hahaha.. i dunno what's the original price. but tt was good reason enough for me to grab the LAST 2 cherry gacia bars home!! Shared them with mom and dad.. yum yumz.. on a hot sunday afternoon..

%!%!% Outing with Ray to Bedok 85 %!%!%

Ray's leaving for Hong Kong for exchange soon!! lolz! another lucky one!! met up with him together with candice for dinner.. this time at bedok 85! Ray knows that place inside-out lorz!! another foodie!! hahaha.. should ask him to write down a list of places to eat before he leaves...

All upon Ray's recommendations- stingray from the shop at the corner (nt the other one! ~ i dunno which one.. =p), chicken wings (as craved by candice!) and delicious porridge from the chai chee stall! (they sell at one stall at night and another juz behind the row)- the stingray was realli shoik! the chilli paste was fragrant yet power..wld have been good with cold beer.. but too bad candice and i had 830 lessons the next day... we wanted to eat ah bo ling for desert.. but we were so full le...

Ray's super super funny! dunno how he comes up with so many things so spontanteously!! laughed till our tummies hurt!! will definitely miz ya! remember to send us nice nice egg tarts and dimsum from hk k? take care, be safe, TRY to remember to study there, and have lotsa fun!! =)

Another after sch escape.. Candice had cravings for donuts, so we ended up at Munchy Donuts! not much of a queue.. (we were there at a good time) but still extremely good in quality and taste!! =)

Stopped by parkway for some shopping.. and for sth to fill our tummies! Forgot the name of the cafe, but it's the one opposite the row of branded shops- esprit/ topman/ etc- tt line of shops.. Ate there previously once with family - dad paid! =p so we tried their espresso with icecream (there's a fancy term for it..) and that was realli good.. so is their signature soup (seafood broth).. this time, went there with candice after sch... =)

This is one of the BEST cheese cream strawberry cakes i've ever had!! =D
Craving for it now... hahaha.. loved how soft the sponge cake was drenched in lovely syrup.. and the cheese-cream was so delectably soft. Envelopes your tongue as it melts into nothingness.. generous bits of strawberry added character to it's light and smooth texture. A slice of heaven =)

Also tried their signature dish- ham cheese and egg sandwhich! Break the poached egg and let the yellow yolk juz run across the sandwhich (which is always fun!) =p and yummy! A hot sandwhich always bring warmth. Loved that it came on a healthy bed of greens too..

Also... ofcourse, alternatively, there's always gd ol' Mac Flurry for much-needed sugar rush after school on an extremely hot day... =)

School has started.. Struggling to get back to our old routines.. like reading textbooks and readings, and studying.. And ofcos, studying at TCC at least one day of the week helps to re-focus and ensure tt i at least do some work on a free day.. rather than slping late and playing with Recce all afternoon... Missed TCC alot during the hols.. the times we spent there.. the feeling of being there.. Special thanks to Candice who drove!!

Alot of menu changes since we last visited.. the new menu featured new items and also deleted our absolute fav- TMH sandwhich!!! =( the portions are smaller (and thus pricer) and increased emphasis on decor, unfortunately seemed to be a drop in standard of taste. No doubt, quality of ingrediants have been maintained thou..

Our drink: we had the same choice! Rose Juliet! Loved it!! cos i love Bandung.. Candice loved it too!! (and she doesn't realli love bandung).. so it's realli good =) The taste of rose is evident even after you mix the latte in... Slight hints and undertones.. cute little tea rose petals.. lolz. love love.

Candice tried their new addition: Seafood Agilo Oilo.. which was realli spicy hot!! but at least the seafood was fresh! Scallops were alittle cold- but i guess it's bcos the chef dipped them in iced water to prevent overcooking when he browned them on the grill... Prawns were cold too- but still springy. Mayb the emphasis on presentation allowed the food to cool.. =p

I had their chicken thigh marinated in special sauce, served with garlic pasta.. This was really good.. loved the sauce, loved the garlic pasta, loved the tender chicken.. wished there was more pasta and more sauce on the pasta. Masculine-looking presentation.. loved tt they had a bed of designer salad leaves with it. Delicate taste and balance of flavours.

Proud of ourselves!! =) Shall aim to be hardworking!! hahaha.. After tt went to meet Yannie for dinner and shopping...

Went shoppin with Yannie at Bugis at night! lolz, was so happy with my purchases!! Yannie always have the best recommendations!! =) So long since we shopped together le... Our meal was extravagant but realli nice... We decided to go TCC again for dinner! a different branch thou.. this one's the nice pretty one with gorgous chandlier lights and comfy seats... (Boutique cafe at Parco)

We were damn hungry lah!! so we ordered complete 3-course meals for each!! regret alittle cos we were soooo full!!

Dishes: (in order of pics)
Soup: Seafood soup and Mushroom soup: loved their mushroom soup!! was so thick yet so delicately light! the seafood soup was good too! And i simply love the garlic bread sticks..

Mains: Curry chicken pasta and Smoked salmon and prawn pasta: the chicken pasta was alittle too starchy, after awhile will get the stuffed feeling.. the smoked salmon and prawn pasta was adapted from the previous smoked salmon pasta (refer to old tcc post where they once had large thin slices of parmasan cheese and beautiful smoked salmon "roses")... i prefer the older version, thou this one has added prawns which were lovely fresh and the cream sauce was juz as heaveny and thick (can be thinned with the slices of lemon if wished).

Deserts: Upside-down Cheesecake and Glam Gramy Joyce Tart: Both deserts are light (as commented by Yannie).. good way to end the meal as their mains are heavy in flavour.. the Upside-down Cheesecake had passionfruit in it! and do eat it with the stringy fried stuff at the top.. it'll juz simply melt on your tongue as you chew the fried stuff. The tart is made up of green apples- Presentation was realli pretty- we love the green apple chip! haha.. the tart was heavenly!! love the flaky pastry and the warm apple slices.. i love apple pies- and this apple tart joins the list of favs.. perfect with the icecream on top!! =) Yannie made a good choice!

Nth gives warmth like barley

Went to New Park Hotel for their buffet. Regulars there for a long time le.. I miz their corn cobs soaked in sweet milk... but it's okie. their spread is still good and realli value for money.
Love their northern indian spiced-garlic nuns which are perfect with their chicpea mush- there's a name for it, i'm juz lazy to research.. lolz. They also have healthy but addictive biscuits which are in cookie jars at the desert station. My fav is their barley.. i stole the ginko nuts from the ice-kachang section, and they went so well together i made myself seconds =)

Above are dishes from the set menu at Grand ShangHai. Not cheap, but the food is definitely good. On the fatty side thou.. and the waitresses are actually quite clumsy and alittle rude. The chi tea sucked- lousy quality tea leaves... I hate it when they charge such prices and fail to care for service and scrimp on small stuff.. But guess the selling point was the live band and singing (the singers were quite good- great vocals!! found myself recognizing all the songs they belt out.. scary.. my taste of music quite old le arh...) and the decor- breath-takingly beautiful. I love the details and the vibrant colors, the way the space was structured and partitioned. Even the toilet is worth a visit... =p

On to food: (sorry, start on a bad note)
pic 1: appetizer- meat selection- Jellyfish had a zingy dressing which was realli nice - i realli liked it, the black pieces of fried eel was miserable and the 2 slices of 3-layered pork fat laden and soggy.. top wasn't crisp at all..

pic 2: Shark's fin soup- i don't eat shark's fin, so i'll dish them pieces out for my bro. And i had a difficult time doin it.. cos the shark's fin they gave us were the little bits and pieces.. Thai Shark's fin Restuarant gives whole, large pieces for a good price and their soup is much better. Disappointing.

pic 3: Fried Cod with Sweet and sour dressing and pine nuts. bad points first: cod is none existant among the batter. Good points: the sweet and sour dressing and pine nuts was a refreshing mix! loved the compliment, and the fact that they served it on a bed of rocket instead of a cabbage or lettue leaf was definitely a skilled and thoughtful decision! i wonder if taste would be heightened or more layered if pine nuts were lightly toasted..

pic 4: Their speciality desert: fried red bean and banana ball.. red bean and banana DOES go together! lolz.. now i know =) nice way to end the meal...

We also had: crab with rice (not in set, we special ordered) - not very nice and not worth $
Fried prawns: yes yes, v v fresh!! loved that dish!
Minced duck: unique and flavourful (they dimmed the lights for the singer, so no pic..)

Had my first psy lecture of the sem! b-o-r-i-n-g.. hahaha.. so sianz cos the whole lect is filled with psy major ppl, which makes me feel so inferior- the lowly psy minor one... =p everyone's on task, i was multi-tasking- filling in lect notes, go thru readings for acct lect, n texting candice... so proud to utlize the 2 hours so fully... =) tt's beside the pt tt i haven't bought the textbook ( and read the 2 required chps for lect) yet...

Anywayz, after psy lect, i bought muffins down to south spine for lunch for the 2 of us! we considered doing work to pass time (2+ hrs to next acct lect).. but apparently, we have ambition without discipline.. =p Woon teng came to visit briefly during our photo-whoring session, and joined in for one pic onli! (she had class i think...) then we had a stroke of genius to do a video!

^#^#^# Sending YZ to France #^#^#^

Met up with YZ, KJ and MY juz before YZ leaves for France next week.. Some ppl are so lucky! =) lolz..

Has been some time since i last saw MY and YZ!! gosh... as YZ puts it- life still goes on..- and it's great tt our paths crossed previously and yet we still treasure that crossing. Nice to see where they are, to catch up over a meal and relax. So funni, the way YZ still loves Newcastle to bits, and the way they are still crazed abt soccer!!... thou i onli know how to look at how cute the soccer players are... =p

We met up at Brewerkz! the place which Mark introed!! lolz, the previous time we forgot to take pics!! but today, i made special effort to remember to take pics of the food at least!! hahaha..

Love the beer at Brewerkz! Juz so smooth and nice!! lolz.. yes yes, no matter how good, beer is ku de =p

Ordered the chilli cheese fries again!! and everyone loved it! lolz.. i was craving for this during the accting lect lorz... made the jue xin tt i MUZ convince them to try!! and so glad tt they finished every single bit of it!! i had their fish and chips- which was realli filling!! the fish was sooo fresh and aplenty inside the crisp beer batter! hahaha perfect to go with their golden beer!! (i had their house speciality) so sinful!! cos no veg!! The last pic is portobello mushrooms!! i stole abit frm YZ.. and it was realli nice too! loved the grilled flavour which juz spreads thru your platter.. abit disappointing cos i expected melted cheese to be... MELTED CHEESE.. lolz.

Then juz as we were eating.. suddenly, FIREWORKS!!

i love fireworks!! =)
The guys juz played it cool and continued watching their soccer inside.. while i rushed out to take pics.. then when i came back, they were like- there's where your 7% GST went! (government revenue.. =p) and i found out that fireworks are actually v expensive... eh.. i have expensive taste! and i love fireworks =)

Went JB with Matt & Yanting after school as celebration of matt's bday this year! lolz, so crazy cos i juz came back frm JB with candice not long ago.. Yanting's damn familiar with JB lah.. leading us to all the realli cheap value places in JB! We realli shopped till we drop!! v v v fun!! They're great shoppers lorz!! if only we had more time.... i bought quite some tops and a felt hat! v coolz =)

Anywayz, to the food!- the first pic is of kaya balls!! my absolute fav in m'sia!! they have bits of kaya inside which oooze out! used to have them when i was young and went to JB with my family for grocery shopping.. mized them sooo much! 14 for RM$2!! tt's value for you manz.

For dinner, we ate at Kenny Rogers- cheap when you convert back to Singapore dollars- $7 for the 1/4 set!! Mized the macaroni cheese alot!! the last time i ate that was... i think at least 2 years ago.. some things don't and shouldn't change =) We were soo stuffed, we didn't finish the yummy muffins.. and the staff there were so cute- they gave us the 3 different flavours, cos there were 3 of us.. hahaha!! wanted to go back to eat the xue bing (snow ice) again.. but by the time we realized wad time it was, shops were closing already....

Finally school is starting, marking the end of internship/ hols. Shall try to be more hardworking this sem!! but first day of sch went to print readings.. and was already super discouraged le.. but... luckily....
as candice puts it:

Didn't have to wait long for our next outta-singapore-escape!! 1 day after we came back from Bintan, we went to JB! =) okie, across the border also counts.. =) Went with afew of Candice's intern-collegues from ml- Jeff and Ray! They're really nice ppl who were fun and onz!

We went juz before lunch time.. but apparently, no seafood place opens during the day =( so in the end, we went shopping instead! lolz.. wanted to go karting one.. but we were short of time.. next time ba.. but still, we had a great time at City Mall! =)

First activity- kbox!! or their version of it.. the scale of operations there is phenomenal!! 4 of us got a big red room with realli cool decor!! we ordered lunch there, and it was super value for $$!! 2.5 hours + lunch is less than S$10!! Sang till shuang manz.. Ray's a freaking good singer!! i juz anyohow pick songs and he'll sing... way to go manz!

Next shopping! Candice and i abit guilty.. cos the guys don't shop.. so we did held back abit.. heh, quite abit. But stuff there was great! and they're having sales too! we'll definitely be going back there rite gal? =p

For tea before we head back Singapore- Kim Gary at the basement of City Mall, Ray's recommendation.. we were searching for Dunkin donuts, but cldn't find it.. =( but.. this was juz as good! if not, better!! we tried their mango drinks and i had their mango snow ice.. gosh, can't get enuf of it!! also, the french toast tt Jeff ordered with peanut butter in it.. yumz!!!! Definitely gonna have it at the branch here in Singapore... Candice and i ordered thick toast with condensed milk n butter and baked chic wings! The thick toast is utterly sinful and the chic wings are heavenly!! If i had it my way, i'll be travelling everyday to JB to eat there!! =p

~%~%~%~ Bintan with Candice ~%~%~%~

Candice chanced upon an irresistable offer and off we went to Bintan!! =) Juz to show how ulu i am, yar, i didn't know tt Bintan was juz 1hour ferry ride away.. lolz. But it was a quick escape frm Singapore.. Best of all, we got to play with the new high-tech, biometric passport processors! damn fun!! you stick your pass port in, tt opens one gate; then you stick your clean thumb on the bio-sensor and it scans your thumbprint! hahaha. the last time i used my thumbprint for anything is the old POSB account book.. or was it to make IC.. hmm.

Anywayz, we caught the earliest ferry available to max time at Bintan and slpt all the way there cos we both slpt late to do last min packin =p but the view was realli nice.. - see first pic- does it look like the heavens were blessing those ships? 2nd pic is us on the ferry..

Bintan's beach at the resort was breathtaking!! the 2 of us dragged those chairs to way out into the beach near the water to suntan... but the sun not v cooperative.. didn't realli shine much. hahaha. but it was still very relaxing... the waves lapping at the beach- the sound was incredibly soothing... and the sand at the beach was sooo soft beneath your feet. I sneaked off to the beach in the morning (lazy candice was still in bed) and the sun rise at the beach was gorgous. It was low tide, so you cld walk to where water once was. And there were millions of sand crabs and their little holes!! you know they're there cos of the little sand balls ard their little holes.. and if you stay realli still, you can catch them in action as they come out of their holes to deposit sand balls or juz to stay there and glare at you. haha. And i tried to chase the sun's reflection.. you know, stand on the reflection on the sun on the slivery waves. Try it sometime =)

As almost everything was expensive, we spent some time entertaining ourselves. Here's a sample of the pictures we took =p *Candice is gona kill me, cos i didn't ask for permit to post... but heck =p * And as even food was expensive, we ate only 1 meal~ dinner! and we took a damn long time to choose... but luckily candice made a wise choice for us! - $14 for that meal you see at the 3rd row, 1st pic. It was filling (we both cldn't finish our portions) and it was delicious! Morning, we utilized the free buffet breakfast which came with the room to the max! lolz.. the next time we come, we're bringing instant noodles...

As it was super ex to leave the resort ($75 for a cab ride, hello? no way..) we did wad we could in the resort- snorkeling, jet skiing, kayating, swimming,etc. Loved jet skiing (blew a hole in the pocket..) the spray of salty sea, the speed and control over your own jet ski, etc. liberating and exhilerating!! hahaha. Also played pool for the first time in years, and went to the resort bar at night.. althou it's relatively not happening, they're generous with their alcohol! so it's value for money to drink in Bintan, but not to eat =)

Was pretty exhasted when we left Bintan... but before we set back to Singapore, one more indulgence! - Haagen Daz icecream at the ferry point while waiting to check in.. great way to conclude the trip! Had the bobbing feeling of the waves in me till i fell aslp at night... Glad and lucky to have you, gal. Hope you had fun too!! =) Let's do this again.. =p

Last few weeks of my internship, i had the fortune of having the friendship of afew aunties! Esp Judy, Cynthia and Maymay! They realli took care of me and doted on the few of us!! i think we were realli realli lucky to have befriended them cos it was then that i realized that true bonds can still exist in an office. They made time at work so much more interesting and happening!! Thankyou!

Judy's a world-class cook!! I will really look forward to the next dish she would whip up at the office!! she does wonders in the pantry!! And no, she's not employed as a cook.. she's a payroll officer! hahaha. But it's amazing.. and all the aunties will help to create our lunch/ teabreaks together! Pity it only started full swing in the last few weeks of my internship! Really, they did it cos we interns were there.. normally, it wld only happen once in a blue moon.... so sweet rite?

1. Carrot Cake for breakfast!! i loved the lub-cheong (chi sausage) bits!!!
2. THE BEST! my fav.. bobo cha cha!! Judy actually cooked this twice upon my request!! =) thank you Judy!! i love her version!! the yam and sweet potato are perfectly soft such that they hold their shape, but melt away in your mouth.. and juz enough coconut milk to make everything velety soft and rich. Sinful!! but oh-so-yummy!
3. Green Bean soup! this was the first dish tt Judy cooked tt i tried. I ate all the beans! hahaha. tt's how good. I love it when we cook desert in the pantry.. it always involves the basic boiling pandan leaves.. and the aroma juz spreads thru the office and fills the space with warmth.
4. Carrot cake! - this was bought for breakfast!! we had mass breakfast together! and this one (i think was bought from Maxwell or Alexander market) is realli nice!! plenty of egg!! yummy breakfast to start the day!

6. Another of Judy's great dishes- Salted veg and duck!! Perfectly balanced! No wonder the 2 guys (3rd row, 1st pic) are thoroughly enjoying it!! guy on the right is KH- he's an accountant, and guy on the left is my fellow intern- Alvin. The aunties dote on them alot lorz!! lolz.. Judy always say she prefer guys over gals.. =p but in the end, she'll always indulge in my requests for bobo cha cha! =)
Last 2 pics: Cynthia gets to go to the bank to settle the company's cash stuff.. and when she does, we're in for a treat!! =) She bought curry fish head, and lots and lots of dishes!! We also got to order lunch frm our canteen via Cynthia! she's super well connected to everyone in Keppel.. realli, you need anything or any advice, she's the person to approach!

We sang girl scout songs while playing, and they kept telling me to stop losing cos i was supposed to drive the lot home. you think i wanna lose arh? lolz.. yy has some luck lorz!!

I know it has been long since i last posted here. Some things happened, and i have to deal with loads of stuff..
Think this blog is more for me than anyone else. A way to remind myself of thoughts and feelings. Cos memories are built based on sight, sounds and taste. And each picture reminds me of sth that i want to remember.

A big thankyou to those who have stayed and trudged thru with me this holiday. It has been an odd one. Special thanks to my closest friends.. I really appreciate your efforts and for staying beside me... but certain decisions are mine to make. I'm realli blessed to have your support. Thank you. For i know i won't have made it thru without you.

Anywayz, even while i was realli MIA, candice and hl still dragged my ass out for dinner and outings =) There're actually loads more outings than these.. but here are the best. first row- White Dog Cafe, Vivo city --> softshell crab heaven, calamari (they have changed the batter and the rings are now downsized.. =( prefer the older one.. ) and the last pic is of a defeated hl with his neatly stacked pile of dishes to wash up in the kitchen cos we didn't have enough cash to foot the bill.... =p

2nd row: Aston's!!! *yupyupz, the one along East Coast Road*
I wisely turned up late.. =p hl and candice queued up along the road.. while i searched for a parking lot.. but the food was terrific. First pic's my order- chic with lime or sth, and the 2nd's candice's *i forgot wad*... 3rd is their sausage taster! some were nice, some were spicy hot! the pic of hl's order was eliminated simply bcos ours look better =) lolz. Look at the pics and you know it tasted realli good.. makes your mouth water! The queue speaks for itself. Can you all don't try? so tt the queue will be shorter the next time i go... =p juz kiddin. MUZ TRY!

1. Botak Jones- Clementi Branch
Specially went there to try it out to compare with the one at Tuas. They say this one's the best.
Taste-wise, i don't realli think there's much of a diff. But seriously, For ppl in tuas, Botak Jone's the only option for a realli good meal... It's literally a slice of heaven in a world of grey industrial munlch.

2. Zuko - Siglap (with candice and hl)
This is spaggetti with seafood in lobster broth. Anything from Zuko is good =)
Love the taste of lobster and the springy fresh prawns and sotongs!

3. SwissBake donut
Candice bought this at her workplace! so sweet... (of her) =p had this for lunch in office the next day...

4. & 5. Thai Express- @ PS - softshell crab curry and seafood green curry

6. Ichiban- Parkway

Candice brought me there to try the delicious King Osyters! ($8/oyster) we bought had it cooked with melted cheese and cream.. gosh. sinful.
the first pic is fresh oysters which i had ($2/oyster), and it was absolute heaven. These are THE oysters!! craved for them days after the meal!! hahaha.. could have been perfect with beer
2nd pic is our apetitizer- fried mango and prawn rolls. was okie, loved the decor!!
last pic- our main course- fish and chips! fish was fresh and tender.. was great with the in-house iced lemon tea!

Loved the place as the dishes all had a special touch and the people there were really friendly and hospitable. Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing.. Dark interior, which was why certain pics didn't turn out good, and all the lighting for the pics above were from the candle on our table. But interior doesn't matter, cos the food was good. The oysters were super duper good! =)

Mother's Day dinner @ Orchard Hotel =)

Used to frequent there in the past.. but now it's abit expensive lah, and also found other places to hang out for our saturday dinners. Abit sad cos the menu has moved to cater to the European platter. Emphasis on variety has also compromised quality to a certain extent. But nonetheless, it's still GOOD. Today's spread was Seafood International! =)

Table mats have a picture of Singapore on it!! it's so tourist-sy.. but still, it's cool.. and i liked it! =) quite cute the way they thought of promoting themselves- they placed Orchard Hotel amongst the Singapore local attractions! Note that there's not Orchard Road.. cos theres' Orchard Hotel! =p lolz.. And it's sooo apporperiate. cos it's meal time... crudos to the person who came up with it!

They had a waiter specially to pry open the oysters on request!! so it's super super fresh!!! it's realli the BEST oysters i've ever eaten.. the flesh is sooo firm.. delicious!! and no, it's not THAT fresh that it's moving.. (my brother was teasing me when i was eating... i ate only 2 lorz.. cos tummy not well these days... =S)

Buffet comes with a serving of King Crab!! Option of pepper King Crab or Garlic and Scalions. Under the recommendation of the waiter, we tried the latter.. and it was absolutely.. yumz. The King Crab's legs are sooo fleshy!!! i loved loved loved the chunks of meat literally juz drenched with the delicious oriental sauce.. One bite into it and the juicy chunks juz ooze out crab-rich flavour to fill your mouth. Oooh yum yum. hahaha wad a treat!! =p

This picture is of 2 GIANT prawns which they have simply barbequed. Eh, well, actually, this pic was taken specially for someone who LOVES prawns. =p Jealous? lolz.. Anywayz, one was quite well done, the other wasn't- disappointing.. Meat was on the mushy side, and taste was bland... But the one that was well done was absolutely great. The flesh was firm with bounce as you munched on it, and there was a hint of the taste of the sea... No seasoning needed for such quality.. Seriously, when you want to express confidence in your quality of ingrediants, do CHECK your ingrediants first... cos when well executed, it makes such a great statement. But if not, it's juz falls flat. Luckily that i got a good piece.. =)

Deserts @ Orchard Buffet

Durian sth....~ lolz, forgot wad it's called le lah. This one's disappointing.. It's light and floating and cold, but it's tasteless... =( but i'm juz glad they have it. Cos i love this desert!! The BEST i've tasted is at some buffet at Raffles Shopping Centre there... dunno what restuarant.. hehhee.. sorriz, alot of things dunno... er, find out then can say mah.. if not give inaccurate info rite....

Peanut cream!!
i love this peanut cream!!! they added walnut cream in too!! so it's not sweet at all, but yet it has alot of layers of flavour and is realli tasty. It's also very thick, but not lumpy, and beautifully textured.. it soothes down your throat. yumz.

I love icecream!! Loved the vanilla one.. classic with the vanilla dots.. deliciously smooth and luxurous.. but the strawberry one was disappointing.. it looked promising with it's bits of strawberry, but it was alittle sour and didn't match up in terms of taste and quality. Don't really like sour icecreams i guess... sour soberts are okie.. but dairy products that are sour- like cheese- ah, that's scary.

The best desert at the buffet has to be this carrot cake!! =) it's NOT as good as my bday cake lorz... but it's still.. really good. love the bits of walnuts and the thin carrot slices among the cake mix. Fresh and not too sweet. The cherry on the top is juz a touch of decadance! =p

I loved that they had 2 spreads of desert- an asian flavoured one with the peanut cream, the durian thingy, some fruits, and some coconut deserts and cookies.. and a more eurasian spread with the bread pudding (not as good as the last time i ate here), cakes, icecream and apple puffs. Loved the variety! =)

And after BlackBoard, we decided to try to bake.. but due to our limited diction of ingrediants, kitchen tools and pure laziness of gettin off candice's comfy bed, we ended up at Haagen Dazs instead... This time it's macadamia, tiramisu and green tea. Pure indulgence... =)

We decided to go swimming~! Luckily candice has some club thingy, so we swam at a private pool in seclusion. lolz. We purposely went to buy swim wear somemore lorz.. too bad for you guys out there, no pics of candice in her swimwear for you.. unless candice decides to permit of cos!! =p
Anywayz, after the swim (which we are now suffering from sunburns from...), we went to find this place called the BlackBoard which candice has read about online!! As usual, we got lost (which only happens when i'm not driving) and took quite some time to find the place.. but i guess it was well worth it! The food was realli good... But Candice has fans wherever she goes lorz... we tried hard to eat in peace.. i tried bravely to fend off the offense kaz!!.. but........ Don't think any of us are going near there anymore.. So if anyone else decides to go there rite, can help us ta-pao?? =p

The carbonara pasta was really good.. Candice finished it! (that's how good!!) =p loved the smoky bacon taste in the creamy sauce.. reminded me of the pasta at NYNY.. i prefered NYNY's one thou.. cos that one was realli creamy.. but this one is seriously good too!! and for wad- $5!! realli good value for seriously good pasta...
The other 2 dishes are -oven baked salmon - which was a healthy dish, i guess.. the slice of salmon was substantial, and the fries had a shower of cajun spice.. And the other dish is- famous cajun chicken with pineapple sauce. I liked the chicken too. Considering i had a servant (see pic below) to cut it into bite-sized pieces.... =p Okie, they only gave us one knife.. Candice kindly took the initiative to do the distributing and the slicing... thanks dear. =)

%$%$%$%$ Krispy Kremes!! $%$%$%$%

Candice juz came back from hk and delivered Krispy Kremes!! for those who have taken AB112, flip thru the main text and you'll find Krispy Kremes as one of the introductory companies! hahaha.. to think we were studying for marketing at tcc and fantasizing about it and now it's a reality!! lolz.. i was so touched. She bought 12 back gave me 3!! Recce's juz as happy to see candice! hahaha.. now for the donuts.. =)

I love the sugar coated one.. so rich and aw-so-sweet!! it has strawberry (pink), chocolate (brown) and sugar (white) all in one donut! i shared it with my family, and i think most of us loved it best! The one with a crust on top is filled with creme cheese! and the other one with a simple sugar coating is filled with creme cheese and strawberry jam! yum yum! Thanks gal!!! Who needs to queue 1.5 hours when you can have a friend fly back from hk.. =p

Other than donuts, candice also bought this for me! after some discussion, we have decided that it's a jelly fish and not an octupus. lolz. jj has one too!! =) candice has the white one, i took the pink one (recce helped me choose... =p) and jj has the blue one! =)

Now for the food.... NYNY!

Half chicken with mushroom cream pasta!!
This was my dish and it was absolutely delicious!! Liked the portion- too much for us to finish.. but always better more than less. Generousity is always good. And taste-wise, it was wonderful. I love cream pasta and it's one of the best. The chicken was a handful thou.. but still, tender and juicy. Perfect for me.. abit guilty that there wasn't any veg thou, unless you count the mushrooms as veg.

Matt's dish- ribs
He finished everything!! and i tried alittle. i prefer the ones at Cartel, he prefered this one. But it's still damn good!! love the slight hint of berries and the soft bones to crunch on. The soft flesh is easy to peel off the bones, great ribs =)

Hot chocolate!
Matt had hot chocolate, i had white chocolate (pic refuse to be uploaded.. =S) both were smooth haven... love hot chocolate.. and they gave mushmellows!! love love love... =)

Service is mostly foreign hired help.. if you don't mind that, they are quite pleasant, juz take paitence with their accents. Other than that, we had 2 guys staring at us at the table next to us.. that was freaking weird. Tables were too close for comfort ba... We were realli glad when those guys left. lolz... =p

3. oneh onehs from bangawang solo, 4. my servant for the day! lolz. candice with our drinks as i sifted thru the piles of clothes to find our size... hehe.. it meant to be a QUICK trip! cos supposed to study for exams.. first paper in afew days lorz... we made the effort okie.. we spilt up to do our errands.. then at the lift to go back to the carpark, there was this trolley full of clothes.. and candice pointed out that one of them looked nice.. and tt was it! we spent 2 hours looking and trying out clothes from that trolley... haaha.

8. Sandwhiches from 7-11!! we bought these on the way to sch cos i was realli hungry.. it was the day of my interview with Keppel.. and i was nervous as hell.. picked candice up, and then picked breakfast at 7-11!! sandwhiches with hot choc.. yum yumz!! luv the smell of hot chocolate..

After lessons... Headache. BAd bad headache.. and luckily, candice waited to fetch me back.. if not, i would have juz laid at one of the benches and konked out.
But, today, candice was late.. bcos she had morphed into this unregconizabe shape....

Juz kidding. it's a picture i took while waiting for her to come pick me up! =) and she was onli a few minutes late... The snail's quite pretty right? Sometimes we miz the beauty of things juz near our feet...
Anywayz, we were both hungry!! as usual... and this time, i introed Candice to my FAV Hokkien Mee stall!! i ONLY eat from them! If you think your's good, taste this one, and Hokkien mee will never be the same again!! Cos i used to dislike Hokkien Mee (i'm a char kway teow person) but ever since i tried this stall.... Warning: this is craving-potential type.. =p
It's near my house, along East Coast Road.. the stall name has Geylang in it. Dunno why it's named Geylang along East Coast Road.. but who cares what it's named as long as it tastes like this???!?! lolz.. We shared one plate, cos both of us going home for dinner...

After the hokkien noodles, we were alittle filled. So instead, we went to the nearest petrol kiosk to get icecream! and our one serving of icecream became.. one TUB of icecream!! haha..
After buying our tubs of icecream, we ate it with plastic spoons in candice's car!! juz Blast the Aircon, turn on the music beats and dive into icecream!! hahaha! it was realli funni, cos the car was juz parked outside the kiosk mart.. and almost everyone who went in took a look at us.. eating icecream infront of the mart in a car!! =S so funniz! cos it was so impromtu and casual! =)

Haagen-Dazs Macadamia Brittle!!

Mine to take home...
Firstly, it's rich too!! very very sinful!! haha.. but it's haagen-daz lah.. whad you expect, sobert? lolz. Anywayz, i didn't like the little pockets of honey.. cos the icecream was already sweet.. but as they're realli little, they're okie.. i love the crunchy honey brittles in the midst of the macadamia goodness! and haagen daiz is ADDICTIVE!! oh, we juz cldn't stop eating!! Bet we stayed there for like half-hour at least lorz.. eating our tubs of icecreams. i finished like the top 2 cm of my tub!! while candice took a digging approach!! hers is nearly 1/4 gone vertically.. lolz. So crazy in a way..
