One of the BEST porridge!!!
I love porridge!! haha.. picked that up from my mom...
Nothing beats hot pipping porridge on a windy, cool, rainy day! lolz.. nowadays it's mostly rainy leh.. and that makes me a happy gal! cos i like rainy days which are laid-back and cool..
As usual, when daddy fetches me home, it's fill-the-tummy first! haha.. we would not eat breakfast nor lunch so that can sneak a snack before dinner at home.. haha. this time, i was realli tired.. so i slpt... and dad must had been busy on the phone hands-free cos he apparently juz followed the highway and missed all our usual turnings- bukit merah market, macpherson's.. all missed.. and exited at Paya Lebar. So we turned to the market nearby, i think it's Geylang Serai there.. the Geyland Poly Clinic there lah... the hawker center was virtually empty!
Dad was still busy on the phone, and my tummy growling, so i had a popiah for $1! and it was realli yummy!! it was packed full and firm, generous with egg.. but my only pick was that chilli-not-enuf.. but for $1 for one roll, it was well-worth it!! and delicious too!!
--------------------------------
Walked on.. till near the end of the hawker center.. there was an apparently quite famous wan ton mee stall.. but not in the mood for wan ton leh... so went for the stall next to it instead- porridge!! for $2, it was reali good value!! it's a stall opened by 2 PRC - brothers i think.. i was quite shocked when he served us the whole you tiao.. *see pic!! but when you bite in, it make sense.. cos it's so crisp and delicious (thou it's not hot nor reheated), and not oily at all!! dipping it in porridge, it was realli oh-heavenly!!
Besides the you tiao, the liao (ingrediants) in the porridge was definitely not juz worth $2 one!! *refer to pic below* they had pretty generously put in some minced pork balls in there, pork slices, etc. the usual that normally they charge abt $3 for!! and the seasoning was juz nice!! the porridge is alittle bland, which juz brings out the flavour of the you tiao, the pork, and the garishings - the usual spring onion and salted veg.. it's healthy, delicious, and realli worth $2!!!
There are still little gems to discover in Singapore!
When i go back, i'll go find the name of the stall okie? =)

Update for the NTU Hall 2 canteen dim sum:
Standard dropped drastically.....
The siew mai looked dried and shrivelled.. i rejected it. changed it for feng zao - stewed chicken feet... which was seasoned with black beans and chilli oil..no wait, should say drenched in chilli oil and black beans..
also ordered the stewed pork ribs with black bean paste.. that one's okie.. and lastly, the prawn dumplings (har gao).. remember the little transparent jewels that pack whole juicy prawns in them? - they're like little pebbles now... sighz.
No way i'm eating that again till they improve it... so disappointed... =(
